I headed toward the house.

By the time I got upstairs, the first thing I heard was Michael.

“Daddy!”

Here we fucking go.

He came running from the living room wearing one sock.

One.

“Where your other sock?”

“I don’t know.”

“Of course you don’t.”

He wrapped himself around my leg.

I dragged him with me toward the living room.

Zion was on the couch with his tablet. Amari had toys spread across half the floor. Serenity was in her little seat kicking her legs.

And Sam was standing near the hallway in her scrubs, fixing her hair into a ponytail.

I stopped.

Frozo was stupid as hell if he thought I was leaving this.

Sam looked over.

“Finally.”

“What?”

“I gotta leave.”

“I’m here.”

“You said on your way damn near forty minutes ago.”

“Traffic.”

She stared at me.

“What?”

“You smell like tires.”

I laughed.

“I was at Frozo’s.”

“I figured.”

She walked over to Serenity and bent down to check something on her.

My eyes went straight to her ass.
