What’s up.
Like he hadn’t been inside me enough times to put the eight-and-a-half-month-old baby currently sitting on my bladder there.
Like he hadn’t been dodging my calls for three fucking days.
Like he hadn’t promised me he would handle half the shit for this baby shower.
I stared at him.
Xay looked at Levin.
“I’ma be outside.”
“Aight.”
He walked past me.
Didn’t touch me.
Didn’t say another word.
I sucked my teeth.
“Actually, I gotta go too.”
Kiana looked at me.
“You just got here.”
“And you was just complaining about me being here.”
I turned before anybody could say shit else.
It took me longer to get through the club than it did Xay, but by the time I pushed through the back door, I caught him near the cars.
Cold air smacked me in the face.
“Xavier.”
He kept walking.
“Xavier!”
He stopped.
Turned.
“What, Heather?”
“What the fuck you mean, what?”
I walked toward him as fast as my pregnant ass allowed.
“Why the fuck you ducking me?”
“I’m not ducking you.”
“You haven’t answered me in three days.”
