I pulled open the back door to Freckles and immediately smelled bleach.
“Ugh.”
That was another thing I missed.
Not the bleach.
The club.
The real smell of it once we opened.
Perfume. Hookah. Liquor. Weed somebody snuck in even though they knew they weren’t supposed to. Money. Sweat. Wings coming out the kitchen.
Home.
“Heathyyyy!”
I looked toward the main floor.
Taty came running toward me with Bianca right behind her.
“Hey, bitches!”
Taty stopped before she got too close and stared directly at my stomach.
“Girl, you still fucking pregnant?”
Bianca laughed. “Damn, Heath. You big as hell.”
I pointed at her.
Both of them screamed laughing.
“Fuck y’all.”
Taty hugged me carefully around my shoulders.
“We miss you.”
“I miss y’all too.”
“When you coming back?”
“As soon as I drop his ass and get cleared.”
Bianca’s eyebrows shot up. “That fast?”
“Fuck yeah.”
I looked toward the main stage.
God, I missed that bitch.
I’d been dancing at Freckles for years, and before Collin made his grand entrance into my uterus, I was the number-one earner in this motherfucker.
Thirty years old or not.
Didn’t matter.
