“Where did you find him?”
Detective Clean hesitated.
“Newark.”
Newark.
I swallowed.
“Where?”
“Near a commercial property off Frelinghuysen Avenue.”
I frowned.
“What the fuck was he doing over there?”
“We were hoping you might be able to help us determine that.”
I shook my head.
“I don’t know.”
“When was the last time you spoke to your husband?”
I stared down at my hands.
“A few days ago.”
“And saw him?”
I rubbed my palms against my pants.
“A few days ago.”
My lawyer looked at me but didn’t interrupt.
“How would you describe your relationship recently?”
I laughed.
I couldn’t help it.
It came out broken and wet through my tears.
“We’re in fucking divorce court, the fuck you think?”
Detective Clean nodded.
“Was the separation contentious?”
“My husband fucked my sister and my cousin.”
That stopped both of them.
My attorney closed her eyes briefly.
I didn’t give a fuck.
