My attorney leaned closer. “His counsel is trying to reach him.”
“I see.”
Xay’s lawyer had already stepped into the hallway once with his phone pressed against his ear.
He came back in.
Alone.
I sighed.
Typical fucking Xay.
He’d make everybody wait because whatever Xavier Lawless had going on was always more important than what everybody else had going on.
My phone vibrated.
Levin.
I stared at his name for a second.
We had been talking.
That was it.
Talking.
I hadn’t forgiven him.
I needed to make that clear even to myself.
I still hadn’t gotten over finding out that the entire reason he’d initially started fucking with me was because he wanted revenge against Xay.
That shit was fucked up.
And no amount of good dick, cute dates, expensive dinners or him suddenly knowing exactly how much creamer I wanted in my coffee erased that.
He had used me.
Maybe he stopped using me somewhere along the way.
Maybe his feelings changed.
Mine damn sure had.
That was the fucked-up part.
I couldn’t sit there and pretend I didn’t feel anything for Levin just because I hated how we started.
I did.
I missed him.
Sometimes I wanted to call him and tell him about something stupid that happened at work before I remembered I was still mad at his ass.
And Levin, surprisingly, hadn’t pressured me.
No popping up.
