“Why y’all sitting here looking like somebody died?”
Neither laughed.
I pulled the chair out.
“Damn. Tough crowd.”
“Hey,” Avery said.
Heather gave me a small smile. “Hey.”
I sat down and put my purse beside me.
“What?”
“Nothing,” Heather said.
“No. Something. Y’all called me here looking like somebody just read a will and left both of y’all out.”
Avery looked down.
Heather looked at Avery.
I looked between both of them.
“What the fuck?”
A server came over before either one could answer.
“Hi. Can I get you started with something to drink?”
“Coffee. Please. Lots of cream, two sugars.”
“Of course. And are you ready to order?”
I picked up the menu.
“Give me a second.”
“No rush.”
She walked away.
I opened the menu.
Neither bitch moved.
I slowly lowered it.
“Why are y’all staring at me?”
Heather sighed.
I looked at her.
“What happened?”
“Nothing happened.”
