“Girl, please.”
“I’m serious.”
“I don’t got no feelings for Levin.”
Nesha gave me a look.
“And Levin don’t got no feelings for me.”
Another look.
“What?”
“That nigga is digging you out multiple times a week, taking you to dinner, taking you to spas, spending his bread and making time for you?”
“Yes.”
“He feels something other than the crook of ya pussy.”
I laughed.
“Nesha, shut the fuck up.”
“I’m serious!”
“He don’t.”
“How you know?”
“Because that’s not what this is.”
“What is it then?”
I paused.
That was actually a good fucking question.
What the hell was it?
We went out.
We ate together.
We talked.
Sometimes Levin would pick me up after work and we’d just ride somewhere.
I’d complain about something stupid one of the nurses did.
He’d tell me about Freckles.
I’d talk about the kids.
He’d talk about Henry.
And sometimes we’d sit somewhere for an hour doing absolutely nothing sexual.
Then other times I couldn’t get my damn clothes off fast enough.
