I answered on speaker.

“More space,” Sam continued. “That’s what he suggested, and honestly it makes more sense than everybody being packed in here.”

Carter cooed in Xay’s arms.

Sam immediately heard her.

“Ooh, FaceTime me! I wanna see her.”

I looked directly at Xay.

His eyes widened.

I smiled.

“Yeah, we can FaceTime.”

He looked like somebody had just told him the police were outside.

“Avery,” he mouthed.

I hit FaceTime.

That pussy-ass nigga damn near threw Carter back at me.

I took her, laughing while Xay disappeared toward the back of my apartment.

Sam’s face popped onto my screen.

“There go my pretty niece!”

“Say hi to Auntie Sam.”

Carter slapped at my phone.

“Look how big she getting!” Sam said. “Oh my God.”

“I know. She’s eating food and everything now.”

“Already? Little greedy ass.”

Sam laughed.
