Only the lamp on Sam’s side was on, turned low enough to put this soft glow across the room.
And there she was.
Sitting in the middle of our bed wearing one of my T-shirts.
Nothing else that I could see.
I stopped in the doorway.
Oh shit.
“Hey,” she said.
I looked behind me like maybe the bitch was talking to somebody else.
Sam laughed.
“What?”
“Nah, nothing.”
I closed the door behind me.
“You good?”
“Mhm.”
Something was different.
I just couldn’t put my finger on what.
She’d been acting funny with me for damn near two weeks. Every time I tried to touch her, she was tired. Busy. Had to get up early. Serenity might wake up.
Now she was sitting in our bed damn near naked waiting for me?
I wasn’t asking too many fucking questions.
I put my water on the dresser.
She got off the bed.
Slow.
My eyes followed her.
That shirt barely covered her ass.
“Sam.”
“What?”
“Come here.”
“I am.”
Nah.
Something was definitely different.
