“You’re welcome.” I smirked, quickly blessed my food, and lifted one of the miniature calzones, taking a bite. I cussed and pulled it away when it almost burned my tongue. “Damn, they’re still hot.”
“I have three meetings this afternoon. Let me give this a minute.” She lifted the Arnold Palmer that came with her meal and sipped, leaning back, staring at me.
“What?”
“You know what, hoe! I want details.”
My stomach was not playing with me, so I continued to risk it all and carefully took bites of my food.
“I’m not telling you what that man’s dick game is like,” I said, chewing while I dipped one in the garlic sauce.
“I have personal experience, so I don’t need your play by play…”
I paused my calzone midbite and glared at Nee who sucked her teeth. “A vampire dick, not the one that belongs to you, hoe. Stop all that.” She flicked her finger at my face.
“You said you didn’t have sex at the club.”
The night we went to Blood Lust, Nee was in a suite too, but when I asked what happened, she told me all he did was feed from her.
“I’m not talking about the night we went. I met an EMS responder and I might have had a little paper cut that he helped me with. It was touch and go for a minute there, but I survived.”
I laughed because she was dramatic as hell. “It sounds like I’m the one who needs to be demanding details. Why am I just hearing about this?”
“You’ve been a little busy, cousin.”
“Not that damn busy and how did a paper cut lead to sex?”
“Station 112, boo.” She lifted one of the mini calzones and tried again, fanning her mouth after the first bite. She chewed and swallowed before explaining. “When you look this good, you get VIP treatment, and in this case, it was top tier dick.”
Nee and I were both thick. I wouldn’t exactly classify myself as a curvy girl but I had a little body. Nee’s breasts were fuller and she had more ass than me but my hips and thighs made up for it.
“Y’all were fucking in the back of an ambulance?” I asked, not really caring but needing the specifics.
“Girl, no. His partner was on the truck so we had to improvise, but this is not about me. What’s going on with you? Whatever you’re doing has officially left the club and is happening in real time. I need details because you’re coming up off two days at this man’s house, which means it’s not just sex.”
Even our sex wasn’t just sex, so yeah…
I’d talked to Nee a few times about Kyron so she was aware that we were spending time together. When I accepted her video call while I was at his house, Nee played private detective. Peeping my surroundings, she had a million and one questions. I didn’t fill her in until this morning when I called to tell her I would bring her lunch and we could talk. The last thing I wanted was Kyron being privy to her crazy ass mouth.
“The location doesn’t really matter. It can still be just sex.”
She narrowed her eyes and motioned to the constellation inked on the inside of her wrist. “Mercury is in retrograde, you can either tell me or I’ll pull it from you.”
Our family was a hodgepodge of witches, which meant we all had different abilities. Toyin was a healing witch, my connection was rooted in fire, and Nee was an astrological witch. She pulled her magic and energy from the alignment of planets and the constellations. Mercury governed communication, which she threatened to use against me often if I refused to play nice about certain things.
“You do realize I can block that spell if I choose to. Fire overrides everything.”
Her eyes rolled and she shrugged. “Then stop wasting my time and just tell me.”
“You already know everything.” I dragged it out just to mess with her.
“Cousin, don’t piss me off, y’all together or what?” she warned, snatching my garlic sauce.
I thought about the past couple weeks and a rush of heat flooded my body from head to toe. I sensed my flames roaring at the awareness of him. “Yeah, we are.”
“Together like you’re his mate?”
I stilled and frowned a little. We hadn’t discussed what our futures looked like, which had me considering things I hadn’t before. Whatever was between us was visceral. The attraction, the pull, the need were all undeniable, but what did that mean for my heart? What guarantee did I have that Kyron wouldn’t end up disappearing on me or moving onto his next addiction? That was exactly what I was to Kyron. A drug that had him drawn to me. I wanted love, not just lust.
