“Lex,” he breathes against my mouth, his voice rough and uneven. “I need you to tell me if you want me to stop. Before this goes any further.”

I pull back an inch, opening my eyes to look at him. In the soft, golden light of the lamp, he looks completely exposed. There are no more walls between us, no bitter memories, or legal contracts. Only a man who holds me like I’m the most precious thing in his entire world.

“Don’t stop. Please don’t stop.”

A low, primal sound purrs in his throat. Before I can catch my breath, he scoops his arm under my knees, lifting me seamlessly off my feet. I hold onto his broad shoulders as he carries me the few steps to the bed. Laying me down against the soft duvet with immense care, Sam hovers over me on his forearms. His stormy blue eyes search every inch of my face.

He reaches down, his fingers slowly caressing the lace of my bra, his knuckles brushing against my warm skin, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake. He reaches behind me, unsnapping it. His tongue dragging along his lower lip with the movement.

As the fabric falls away, his breath catches, his normally playful blue gaze darkening with a fierce heat that makes my skin hot.

“You’re so fucking beautiful,” he murmurs. His lips trace a path down my jaw, over the pulse point at my throat, and down my shoulder before latching on to my nipple. The little tugs of his teeth against my delicate skin set my nerves on fire.

My hands map the broad expanse of his back, the lean muscles he’s developed. The heat radiates off of him like a furnace. Every touch is electric. When his body settles over mine, the weight of him is comforting. Almost grounding. It chases away the faint lingering questions, replacing them with an undeniable heat. I’ve never wanted anything so much in my life. I’m practically shaking.

Sam appears lost in his ministrations, licking my collarbone and biting the side of my neck. It’s as if it’s impossible for either of us to stop now that we’ve given in to this. The years of longing.

He stills momentarily. “Are you nervous?”

“Maybe a little.”

“I’m trying not to rush.” I don’t miss the way his hands are trembling as he slides his fingers into the waistline of my panties. “I’ve waited so long.”

My face falls. Does he mean for sex? Or me? It isn’t lost on me that he had a much different lifestyle before we were married. I try to push the thoughts aside and focus on the man above me.

He gives my panties a tug, so I lift my hips for him. His hands glide up my skin toward my waist, darting soft kisses along the inside of my thighs. He discards my wet, lacy panties on the floor by my feet and leans in for a deep inhale. “So pretty.”

Every nerve is tight with want. My nipples are furled to the point of pain. It would probably only take a few strokes over my swollen center for me to detonate.

Sam rises from the bed and, with his eyes on mine, he slowly bends to remove his boxers. His huge cock juts free, and I have to swallow. Even in my wildest dreams, I never imagined his body could be this perfect.

He covers my needy body with his, kissing me passionately as our bodies start rocking together. It’s as if we’re secretly dancing to the same music. The feel of his warm, muscular skin on mine and the way his chest hair scratches my nipples… I’m worried I won’t make it to the main event.

Sam reaches over to the nightstand. It’s awkward given the size of the bed. But he retrieves a condom. It hits me that we’ve never had the talk. He tears it open with his teeth and looks down at me. “I’m clean, Lex. I got checked before we were married. And I haven’t been with anyone since the night I saw you again after all of this time.” He bends down to place a kiss on my forehead. “Hell. How could I? I haven’t been able to think about anyone but you.”

I give him a shy smile. As much as I long to hear those words, it still doesn’t feel real. Not with so much left unsaid between us. But now is not the time for that. Focus on the hot guy above you, Lexi. That’s a conversation for another day. “Same. I mean, I was tested before we were married.” I’m not about to divulge how lackluster my sex life has been.

Sam again covers my body with his, his hands trembling as they reach up to cup my face. He gives me a deep, sultry kiss before sliding his hands down my sides. Leaning onto his forearms, I feel the moment his cock meets my heated flesh, and I gulp.

“You’re so tight, baby. So warm and tight.” He pushes a little farther, a sharp, searing pain causes me to clamp down on my molars. And here I thought I was wet enough I could handle his size. He plunges the rest of the way in, and it nearly knocks the breath out of me.

Once I’ve subdued the initial stinging a bit, I attempt to rock back and forth to allow my body to accommodate to his.

“Please, Lex. Baby, don’t move.”

What?

“You feel so damn good. This is going to be over in no time if you move. Just give me a minute.”

I attempt to hold perfectly still. But I wasn’t expecting this. I assumed this skilled playboy would be hot and heavy for it, slamming me against the headboard.

“Grape fungus, Sebastian’s gym socks, Rowan’s dirty diapers.”

“Um… Sam?” I whisper. I feel him tense above me.

“Fuck. I said that out loud?”

I nod, trying to tamp down my giggle.
