“Yo won’t believe this shit.” I started to explain that he gave me his AMEX and how much I spent. I told her why he said he ghosted me, that he apologized, and that he wanted to make things right.
“An AMEX!!! Bitch, either that nigga is in the streets, or has perfect credit. I mean… because how else would that explain how he could afford a house in that area and on a whim he let you rack up fifteen bands on his credit card,” she mused. “That sounds hella’ shady, but I’d run his shit up too, sis.” We both laughed.
“Seriously though, be careful. I know how much you loved him, but don’t let him put you back in that situation. Get what you can and ghost his ass this time if he ain’t acting right.”
“Of course. I may have been gullible while I was locked up, but I’m about to turn these tables on his sexy ass.”
“Not you scheming and calling him sexy in the same breath.” She giggled.
“What? I got eyes, bitch. Anyway, what you up to?” I asked as I pulled into Chance’s gate.
“Nothing really. I’m supposed to link up with a friend later, but I don’t know. He’s been irritating the hell out of me recently.” She admitted.
“Is it the guy you’ve been sneaking in and out of the house lately?” I said jokingly.
“Yeah, but it’s not me being sneaky; it’s him, and it’s throwing me off. He’s been acting different since you came home,” she confessed.
“What I got to do with y’all’s situation? I’m not trying to fuck up what you got going on, and if he ain’t trying to meet your family, then the feelings are mutual.” I continued. “Respectfully, though, sis.”
“Trust me, sis, I know. Well, he’s been tripping for the past few months, and disrespectfully, he ain’t finna’ tell me to choose between him and you,” she spat.
I gasped. “I know you fucking lying! I have yet to meet that man.”
“Girl, he just wants his ego stroked, but he got me fucked up. But don’t worry about him. We are a package deal, and if a nigga got a problem, I suggest he go kick rocks.”
“I’m so sorry, Jamie. For real, I had no idea you were going through that bullshit.”
“Girl, it is what it is. Just let me know if you’re coming back home tonight or whenever. I don’t have shit planned today or tomorrow, but I have to work Monday, so I need the car by then.”
“I’ll bring your car tonight. I have no idea if I’m staying out or coming home, but I’m sure Chance will make sure I can bring your car to you. He’s in my pocket right now.” As if on cue, he opened the gate.
I wasn’t in a rush since I was talking with my sister, but he must’ve checked his camera and seen me at the gate.
“Okay, just keep me posted.”
“I will,” I agreed.
We said our goodbyes, and I ended the call.
When I pulled up in Chance’s driveway. I sat in the car, trying to figure out what I missed during our conversations. This is the last place I expected him to live. I was unsure what I wanted from this situation. It seemed too easy, and that bothered me. It was something different about him.
As I got lost in my thoughts, I saw that his front door opened. He came outside in a pair of Gucci slides and red satin Hugo Boss Briefs. My mouth dropped open in shock for two reasons. One, he was basically naked outside, and two, he looked fucking good. I swallowed the lump in my throat before I started to drool like a lovesick teen.
When he got to the driver’s door, he opened it.
“What’s wrong, Trouble? You scared to face me after spending over fifteen bands of my money?”
I shook my head.
He chuckled, “Cat got your tongue?”
I cleared my throat. “No, actually. I was just shocked that you came outside in the nude. I’m sure your neighbors might not like that.”
“Look around. Do you see another house? Now come on so you can get showered and changed.”
He reached for my hand and guided me out of the car, then he went to retrieve my bags from the back seat.
Once we entered the house, he had Rod Wave playing. He took me to what looked to be a spare room.
