I don’t miss the way she goes still in my arms. She doesn’t like the idea of Vegas. “He’s curious.”

“It’s okay. I told him stories but didn’t say anything else.”

She sighs and presses a sweet kiss on my chest before stepping away.

“Let’s go sit on the porch. It’s a nice night, and someone paid a shit ton of money for a new one.”

With a smirk, I follow her outside and sit next to her.

“I always sit out here,” she says with a sigh as she crosses her legs on her chair. Her beautiful hair is down, begging for me to fist it in my hand as I fuck her from behind.

Yeah, I’m hot for my wife. That absolutely hasn’t changed. I’m more attracted to her now than I ever was before.

“Why haven’t I met any of your friends?” I ask her.

“I don’t have friends,” she replies with a shrug. “I don’t keep people close to me. They ask too many questions, and I don’t like to lie, but I won’t tell them the truth either. So I keep to myself. I don’t befriend the other moms at Charlie’s school. I’m sure they all think I’m a royal bitch, but I don’t really care.”

“Baby, you have to be lonely.”

She blinks over at me. “You spent five fucking years in prison, Carson. I’ll never complain about anything. I made a good life for us. I like what I do, my kid is healthy and happy, and that’s really all I thought I needed.”

She swallows hard and turns those pretty eyes to me again.

“But now I need you too.”

“Thank fuck because you’ve got me. If you thought I was obsessed seven years ago, that was nothing compared to now.”

She smiles, and it lights up the whole world, the way it always has. She’s the one thing in this life that breaks through my darkness.

She’s my sunshine.

“I do bad things,” I say softly. “And one day I’ll tell you some of it, but I’m a shit human, Rina.”

She shakes her head and climbs in my lap, wraps her arms around my neck, and buries her face against me. She’s softer than she was before. Curvier. And every fucking inch of her is absolute perfection.

Her dress has ridden up high on her thighs, and I can’t resist gliding my hand up and under the hemline so I can palm her perfect ass. It’s good that this porch is dark and we’re hidden in the shadows so the men currently in my house next door can’t see us.

Otherwise, I’d have to remove their eyeballs.

Rina stiffens against me, making me scowl.

“If you don’t want me to touch you—”

“It’s not that.” She keeps her face pressed to my neck, as if she’s hiding. “I’m just . . .”

She stops, and I brush my hand down her hair.

“You’re what, baby?”

“Embarrassed.” It’s a whisper.

“What the fuck do you have to be embarrassed about?”

“I don’t look the same as I used to.”

I bark out a laugh at that, and her head shoots up in surprise.

“Honey, I have more scars on my body than I can count. I’ve covered a lot with ink, but not all of them. I am the worst kind of human being. You have absolutely nothing at all to be embarrassed about when it comes to anything about you.”
