Prologue
RINA
Seven Years Ago
“You may kiss your bride.”
Holy shit, we got married.
Carson’s lips tip up in that grin that always makes me tingle all over. His blue eyes don’t leave mine as he leans down and doesn’t simply kiss me.
This man hasn’t ever simply kissed me in the year we’ve been together.
He devours me, bending me backward as all three of his brothers clap and whoop, and oh my God.
We got married.
“I fucking love you,” he growls against my lips.
“I love you too.”
Did I just marry into a dangerous family?
Yep.
Do I have regrets?
Nope.
Not for a minute. Carson is the best thing that ever happened to me. He’s my soulmate, and that might sound trite or cheesy, but I don’t give a shit because it’s true.
And now I don’t ever have to know how it feels to be without him. Because he’s mine.
“Congratulations, sweet girl,” Rome says with a smile. He doesn’t touch me, mostly because Rome doesn’t touch anyone.
“Welcome to the family.” Mateo scoops me right up into a hug, and Carson growls, making us laugh.
“Where are we going for dinner?” Julian, the third brother, asks. I know that none of these guys are really related by blood, but they’re family in every way that counts. And now, they’ve brought me into the fold too. They treat me like a sister. Like I’m an important part of their family, and it’s something I’ve never had before.
“Choose a place, and we’ll meet you there,” Carson says, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and pressing his lips to the top of my head. “I need to take her somewhere first.”
“I’ll text you what we decide on,” Julian says with a nod, and the three of them walk away.
My new husband takes my hand and leads me to his black Maserati. But before he opens my door, he pins me against the side of the car, caging me in, and proceeds to kiss the hell out of me.
“Hello, Mrs. St. James.”
The smile on my face might just split it in two. Am I even allowed to be this happy? “Hello, husband.”
“You’re fucking beautiful.”
I lift an eyebrow. This wedding was spur of the moment, and I’m in a simple pink sundress because it’s hot as hell in Vegas, and my hair is up in a twist. I did put on makeup this morning, mostly because I had dinner with my father last night and he left a bruise on my chin.
Carson will go apeshit when he sees it.
“I’m glad you think so,” I reply softly and nip at his lips. “What are you going to show me?”
“You’ll see. Hop in.”
