‘I don’t want your pity.’

‘I don’t pity you,’ Skye stated. ‘I crave you.’ She took his hand in hers, lifted it to where that empty ache had settled, and when TJ slipped his thumb over her, she asked, ‘Does it feel like I pity you?’

TJ shook his head.

‘Well then.’ Skye lay back down again, opened her legs wider.

TJ braced his elbows on the bed – to stabilize his spine, she knew. And although she promised that she’d pay attention, looking for any signs of pain or discomfort, the moment he lowered his head and slid his tongue through her, coherent thought scattered.

TJ pulled back, almost instantly, his ripe, ‘Fuck,’ reverberating through the confines of the trailer. ‘I’ve dreamed about tasting you again, Skye.’ He spread her with his thumbs, sucked her clit gently into his mouth, using slow pulls and tugs to drive her higher.

Skye fell back onto the bed, leveraging herself as she ground against TJ’s mouth, wanting more. Needing more.

Always so in tune with her body, TJ slipped two big fingers into her. He moved them slowly at first. His whispered, ‘You’re so fucking pretty, baby,’ had her closing her eyes as her body drew in.

She moaned, ‘TJ,’ as that wave pulled her higher, begged, ‘Please,’ when her body hovered on the edge, refusing to let go.

TJ blew a warm breath over her, whispered, ‘You know what I want.’

Skye did. And too greedy to withhold it, she said, ‘Jesse. Please.’

The moment the words left her mouth, he gave her what she wanted and, lowering his mouth to her, sucked her clit hard between his lips, even as his fingers continued to work her.

Skye exploded.

Her back arched off the bed.

Her feet pressed into the mattress.

A loud cry of release left her lips with no self-consciousness.

Had she been capable of rational thought, Skye might have been embarrassed that it had only taken him thirty seconds to make her come.

TJ came up panting, his eyes wild, his face glistening with the evidence of her lust. ‘I need to be inside you, Skye.’ The words were said roughly, but TJ didn’t move a muscle until Skye moved back on the bed, making space for him to join her.

He bent over to remove his jeans, inadvertently showing her his scar. That deep aching grief she felt every time she saw it wormed its way into her heart. But when TJ looked up at her, Skye carefully erased any evidence of it from her eyes – just not quickly enough.

TJ hesitated.

‘Don’t shut me out,’ Skye demanded.

He chuckled dryly. ‘I wasn’t intending to. Not even your pity is enough to turn me off.’

This time, when Skye held out her hand, TJ linked their fingers, but instead of letting her tug him onto the bed, he turned her hand over in his and lowered his lips to her skin, imparting the gentlest of kisses. ‘Being here with you again is the only thing I’ve dreamed about in almost two years.’

That duplicitous lick of panic reared – the one that she wasn’t sure stemmed from pleasure or anxiety. Skye tried to ignore it. ‘I don’t need words, TJ. I just … I need to keep this casual.’

‘Sex between us could never be casual,’ TJ countered. ‘But if you need me to keep my feelings to myself, then I can do that.’

‘It’s too much,’ Skye said.

TJ nodded. ‘Okay.’

With that out of the way, Skye took a deep breath. She knew that what she had to say next would irritate him, but she did it anyway, because she had promised to put his recovery first. ‘I’ve noticed that you tend to only lie flat on your back. Is that because of the pain?’

‘It helps with spine alignment,’ he replied cautiously. ‘Why?’

Skye didn’t reply, just crooked a finger at him, and when TJ climbed up onto the bed beside her, she gave him a gentle shove, encouraging him to lie flat on his back.
