Me: Probably dinner

Me: We should check out all the restaurants every night

Me: Just in case they are there

I hold my breath waiting for her reply, but it doesn’t take long to come in.

Lettie: Nice try, Casanova

Me: That’s a weird way to call me handsome, but I’ll take it

Lettie: *eye roll emoji*

Lettie: Keep me posted if you hear anything suspicious

I type back always and tuck the phone in my pocket, too nervous to check if she replies.

Me: I could have gone my whole life without seeing that

Calvin: Glad to be of service

Calvin: Plus, this is a daily occurrence for me. Consider yourself lucky

Me: Oh, I’m so lucky

Me: Again, sarcasm

Calvin: Oh, I can make you lucky *wink emoji*

Me: Can you make it an entire text exchange without flirting with me?

Calvin: Probably not

We keep texting, and days fly by—just small notes here and there.

Calvin: I probably shouldn’t tell you this, but…
