“What?”
“Yes, girl. They had her a small baby shower the other day. I saw it in her cousin's close friends on Instagram when she left my shop. That’s what I did her hair for. I took screenshots of the baby shower because, as I said, I wanted to tell you so bad the moment she left my chair, but, friend, I’m scared of Caine.”
“So, her name is Isis. Who the hell is that?”
My voice came out quieter than I meant it too.
“I don’t know her, but her cousin filled into a few squeeze in appointment that I had available like three times in the past two months. She’s a cool girl. We never talk much when she’s there, but when I asked her what the occasion was for her hair the other day, she just started spilling the beans like she was waiting for me to ask.”
“Let me see the pictures from the shower. Do you have a picture of the girl?”
“Yeah, I do, hold on.”
Rochelle reached for her phone on the coffee table, keeping one hand on her robe as she unlocked it. Her thumb moved quickly across the screen, and my heart was beating so hard I could feel it in my chest.
“Here.”
She handed me the phone.
A screen recording was playing, showing a girl sitting in the middle of a living room, opening gifts while several women laughed and talked around her. Pink and blue balloons were taped crookedly against a wall, with other raggedy ass decorations, and tissue paper spilled all over the floor. The whole thing looked ratchet as hell, and so did the girl. I mean, she was cute or whatever, but she didn’t look like his type. Caine likes pretty classy women. Not some ratchet hoe with tattoos on her thighs.
When the video ended, I swiped back and watched it again, this time paying attention to the clothes in her hands. She was holding up tiny dresses and onesies. Some pink and then some of them blue. That shit caught my attention quickly, and I paused the video.
“Why does it look like she has clothes for both genders?”
Rochelle winced and looked at me like she already knew I wasn't going to like the answer.
“Oh, yeah, friend.”
She placed her hand on my forearm.
“My client said that she is having twins. She said her cousin didn’t know it was twins at first until she went for a second ultrasound or some shit and they saw the second baby then.”
I looked back down at the phone and stared at the little blue outfit on the screen.
“But friend, talk to Caine first to see how true this is. Bitches do be lying, but as I said, that's what she told me, and not telling you has been eating me up.”
I dropped the phone out of my hand.
It landed against the cushion instead of the floor, but I barely noticed.
So much shit was running through my mind that I couldn’t even fuckin think anymore.
Rochelle scooted closer and rubbed my back.
“I’m sorry, friend. I didn’t want to tell you and upset you, but you needed to know what these hoes are out here saying about your husband.”
“And I appreciate it. This just has me in shock. Like, I want to lay down and sleep now.”
She folded her bottom lip over.
“Okay, I’ll be right back. Let me go grab you some cover and a pillow.”
Rochelle got up and went into the other room. Her expression was full of sympathy, so I knew she didn’t tell me that to be malicious. I was just upset about Caine potentially stepping out, and confused as to why he was still trying to have a son if he already knew he had one on the way.
That didn't make sense, and I knew Caine. If he knew about this son, he wouldn’t be stressing about having one. That girl has to be lying, or her cousin Isis lied to her. I’m not sweating this shit too much because I bet Caine doesn’t even know this Isis bitch. This is just a part of being married to the man everyone wants. So those bastard twins are the least of my worries right now and once I find out the truth, I will handle them in any way I see fit.
