I whispered against his ear, we needed that.

“Aye, twas much like a race. I think I won.”

“I have no idea, I was out of my mind for about ten minutes there.”

“I hate tae tell ye, Princess, the whole thing dinna last more than five.”

I chuckled against his cheek.

He said, “Daena judge me on it, I hae been at battle and wounded, and couldna think over my need tae take ye.”

“I will not hold it against you, I promise. I told you that you had to really take some time next time, but honestly, I needed this fast. I was desperate.”

I sat up on him and took in that lovely view, looking down on him. “God you are hot, I am so glad to have you.”

He bounced his hips up and down causing me to buck, playfully. “Ye are just baskin’ in the glow of a bedding, Princess, and feelin’ fondly on yer Torin for givin’ ye the high pike.”

I grinned. “I do feel very fondly. All hail the high pike.”

He said, “Tis soft now, but I might be able tae call him back for more if ye are still desirous.”

“No, that was perfect.” I kissed him and climbed off, grabbed a cloth by the bowl, and cleaned myself, handing him another to clean himself. Then I finger-combed my hair and tried to look presentable.

I shook out an antibiotic into the palm of my hand and stood in front of him and handed him the pill. “How’s your shoulder? That was acrobatic.”

He took the pill without complaint, and then moved his shoulder a little bit. “I did use it more than I ought, but tis fine, twas worth it tae hae ye on me.”

“Good.”

Then there was a quick knock and Niall entered.

He bowed. “My apologies, Lady Alexandria for the intrusion. Laird Torin, I will be leading a group of men tae the castle, and we are tae accompany ye…”

“I will be ready, let me dress.”

He bowed and left the room.

I said, “Thank God we were done.”

Torin gave me a sad grin. “Aye, I look forward tae havin’ our own chamber with a lockin’ door.”

His clothes from the battle had been washed and mended. I helped him pull on the pants, along with the linen shirt the monks had given him. We packed his coat in one of the bags, because it was impossible to put on with his shoulder injury. He still looked very fine with his pants on and a belt around his waist, his sword at his hip.

I pulled my pants on, tucked in a linen shirt, promising myself that from now on I would carry ten pairs of clean underwear in my pockets along with the innumerable flashlights, in case of a time travel incident. That was all I needed. Besides everything else.

Then I put on my jacket dress from my kingdom over it. I was so glad I had chosen the one in hues of deep and olive greens instead of the pink, that would have been a nightmare to explain.

In this dress, I looked much more like a ‘Lady’ Alexandria than I had in the peasant clothes I’d been wearing these last several days.

Our clothes were of a different time, the fabrics modern, but with long skirts on me and clean slacks on him, combined with the linen shirts, we looked passable enough as medieval people.

I stepped back to look him over. “You look good, like a dashing medieval knight in a Hollywood movie.”

He said, “I hae nae idea what yer words mean.”

I pulled my hair up and put the veil on. “Hollywood movie… I cannot wait to show you one.” I stuffed all of our things in some of the open bags and piled them. “Will someone get these for us?”

Just then there was a knock on the door, a young man entered, bowed, and said, “M’Laird, I’ve come for yer bags.”
