I chuckled. “I see. Use the munchkin to bribe me.”
“It works on Dad.”
“Dad is a pushover for his girls.”
“Dad is a pushover for his kids, you mean.”
“Yeah, you’re right.”
“Don’t stress about the move, Matthew. It’s not for a while.”
“I know.”
“Now, tell me about Maddy.”
I settled back. “Okay.”
“Oh my lanta! Batman!” Maddy yelled out, her body arching as she came around me.
My shoulders shook with amusement even as I orgasmed. Maddy’s sex talk was so unique. Strange.
Utterly perfect.
I groaned, my face buried into her neck. “Fuck.”
That was the only word I could manage.
Sex with her was spectacular. We suited each other so well. I had never known this kind of passion with another woman.
Ever.
I rolled to the side, taking her with me. We were a sweaty, sticky mess. Her hair looked like a haystack, and I knew mine would look as if I’d been through a wind tunnel from the way she had tugged on it with her fingers. I could feel the slight sting left by her teeth on my chest, and I grinned at the knowledge I would have her marks as a sign of our coupling tomorrow.
“I should stay away longer next time if this is how you greet me,” I muttered.
Maddy laughed, draping her leg over mine and lifting her face for a kiss. Our mouths moved together as easily as our bodies—as if we’d known each other for years.
“No,” she pouted. “I missed you.”
“I missed you. This new schedule sucks.”
My new roster was nights. I’d never minded it before, but now, I resented it totally. I was asleep while Maddy was working and vice versa. My days off were Monday and Tuesday, and we barely got to see each other. It had only been two weeks, and I was already counting down to the next shift change, although evenings weren’t a lot better.
Mom and Dad had purchased the condo they liked, and the house was going up for sale soon. They planned on going to Port Albany, be there for Heather’s wedding, then head to England after Penny gave birth. Once they left, I wouldn’t see them for months.
It would be the longest I had ever gone without them. I found comfort in the fact that they were happy, and that Zoom and FaceTime existed. But I would miss them.
And this crazy schedule was stopping me from seeing them much before they departed.
Maddy rested her head on my shoulder, interrupting my thoughts.
“How long is this roster for?”
“Four months.”
“Ah.”
I pressed a kiss to her head. “We’ll figure it out.”
