Maybe I should take things slower with her. She ended things with Josh a few hours ago and hasn’t even had time to process that. I don’t want to push too hard and scare her away. Not after waiting so long for this moment. Besides, it’s just sex. I’m offering no-strings-attached sex.

I could take it back. Every word. But I don’t. Instead, I do the only thing that feels right. I beg. “Let me show you how you deserve to feel. What it’s like when someone learns your body and understands your needs. Please.”

Chapter 6

Fiona

What am I supposed to say to a demon who begs to spend the weekend devouring me? Obviously, yes. Arthur is the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen, and I’d be a fool to reject his offer, particularly with the heated way he looks at me and the way my belly floods with warmth whenever he’s close enough to touch.

And I want him to touch me again. Desperately. He radiates confidence, and I want to know what it’s like to have sex with a confident man. Josh and I haven’t slept together in several months, but even when our sex life was active, there weren’t any fireworks. It felt like we were both checking a box in order to tell ourselves we were in a happy marriage. He wasn’t too concerned about making sure my needs were met either. Only that his were.

At the very least, Arthur desires me, and I haven’t been desired in a very long time. The way he looks at me with barely contained hunger, like he’s too distracted by my beauty to focus on anything else. Like a meteor could crash through the roof and he’d still be staring at my lips. It’s intoxicating.

It’s also…just sex. That’s what he’s offering me, right? I haven’t had casual sex since college, and I didn’t realize it before, but I miss it. The primal coming together of two people for one very clear purpose without the promise of anything else.

But the question that remains at the forefront of my mind also leaves my lips. “Why me? I mean, is it because I conjured you? Is that the only reason you’re attracted to me?” If conjuring him is akin to casting a love spell on him, then is it even real?

He pulls me closer and cups my face like I’m made of the most delicate glass. “Not at all. My role as your defender has nothing to do with my feelings for you. When we’re conjured, our only duty is to protect our humans from harm. That’s it. Emotional attachments do occur, but it’s not a given.”

“Like a guardian angel?”

Arthur smirks. “No. If you want a guardian angel, adopt a dog. Their souls are pure and their actions are directed completely by their instincts. Demons, on the other hand, we play dirty.”

I’ve always wanted a dog. Josh was allergic, so it wasn’t in the cards. Maybe now that he’s gone, I can start looking at the local rescue sites.

“I want you for exactly who you are,” he vows.

That makes me feel better, and it eases my anxiety enough to say, “Okay. I’m in. I want this too.” He leans down to kiss me, but I hold up a hand, stopping him. “You should know I’m a bit rusty.”

A throaty laugh rattles out of him, and the sound goes straight to my pussy. “I’ve got you,” he whispers, and yeah, I’m a goner. My underwear will need to be peeled off due to the accumulating stickiness. He gently pushes the cape off my shoulders, letting it pool at my feet.

I shiver as he runs the tip of his claw over my shoulder, sending goosebumps exploding across my skin. He tests the durability of the spaghetti-thin straps of my nightgown, and I shoot him a scowl. “This was expensive. Don’t rip it.”

“Very well, princess.” He’s smirking at me, utterly amused, and I revel in the warmth of his glowing eyes. Even without the distinct shape of a pupil and iris, I feel truly seen in his gaze, more than I have by anyone in years. His claw traces a line over my shoulder and up the length of my throat before he cups my face once more and takes my lips in a blinding kiss.

My toes curl into the carpet as my fingers tangle in his thick, silky hair. He lets out a pleased grunt as his lips part, and I feel his tongue run along my bottom lip. I meet his in the middle of our parted mouths, our tongues entwining in a dance as our hands venture out, exploring the terrain of each other’s bodies.

Arthur is a breathtaking expanse of sharp edges and muscles carved from stone, whereas I’m a buffet of soft flesh, and yet we seem to fit together so perfectly, I wonder why I wasted all these years without him.

His mouth continues along my jaw and down my neck; his panting breaths tickle my skin as his hand cups my breast. A moan escapes me as he plays with my nipple through the silk, pinching it into a hard, aching point. Then he’s pushing the straps down my shoulders until my breasts spill over the top.

“Remarkable,” he says in a low growl before wrapping his lips around my nipple and sucking hard.

I throw my head back and moan, my entire body tingling now. He gives the same attention to my other breast as he shoves the nightgown down over my wide hips and past my thighs. I reach for the buckle of his belt as I kiss and lick my way across his sculpted pecs. There’s a dusting of green hair here that runs in a line down his stomach, and I wantonly rub my cheek against it, loving its downy softness.

“Can you get me pregnant?” I ask as he runs a hand through my hair, bringing the ends up to his nose and taking a deep inhale.

He shakes his head. “No need to worry. I plan to wreck your present, not your future.”

I chuckle, but my mind lingers on the mention of the future. After tonight, will Arthur disappear again? Will he go back to being invisible? Knowing about him now, the idea of that doesn’t sit well with me.

When he traces my collarbone with his tongue, thoughts of anything past this moment leave my head. I wrestle a bit with his belt, but when I open his fly and his dick pops out, I gasp. “Wow,” I mutter, running my palm down the thick, impressive length of him. It’s my first experience with an uncut penis, and I’m entranced by the way his gray foreskin peels back when I stroke him, revealing a darker gray swollen head glistening with shimmery purple precome.

“What are these?” Circling his shaft are a bunch of gray nubs with a rough texture at the tips. I’ve never seen anything like it.

“My barbs.” He answers in a half-groan with his eyes closed in ecstasy as I continue to stroke him. “They will keep our bodies locked together during orgasm.”

I pull back to look at him with wide eyes. “Will they hurt me?”
