Lucien grinned. “He says, while probably clinging to her right now like a feral dog.”

Roman’s mouth twitched. “Is she safe?”

The humour fell away instantly because Roman didn’t play about family. “Yes,” I reply. “She’s in the mansion, with me.”

“And human?” Roman asked.

I hesitated half a second but Draugr answered for me. “Human.”

Volken whistled and then grins. “Oh, he’s doomed.”

“Shut up,” I snapped.

Lucien laughed harder. “Draugr, is he blushing or is it my imagination?”

Draugr didn’t even glance at me. “He’s blushing.”

“I am not blushing,” I said flatly.

Lucien made a dramatic choking sound. “Oh Jesus, he is blushing. Imagine that, the all-powerful Viking Dragic is lost for words.”

“I’m not,” I growled.

Volken leaned closer to the camera, eyes bright with pure malicious joy. “Viking Dragic, the man who called me weak for buying my mate flowers…”

“That was weak,” I snapped.

“…is currently red in the face because a human girl smiled at him,” Volken finished, delighted.

Lucien wiped at his eyes like he was laughing so hard it hurt. “Stop. I can’t breathe. Draugr, zoom in. I want to frame this.”

“Fuck off, I’m not your entertainment,” I grunt in annoyance.

Roman, the oldest, the only one with enough authority to usually control the circus, looked… mildly amused. Which was basically Roman laughing hysterically by Roman standards.

“Is it true,” Roman asked calmly, as he looks down at a message Draugr had typed in the chat. “that you kidnapped her?”

Silence, and then Draugr answered for me, voice dry as sandpaper. “Yes.”

Lucien slammed his hand down somewhere off-screen, wheezing. “I KNEW IT. I knew it was going to be something unhinged!”

“It wasn’t unhinged,” I bit out.

Volken pointed a finger at the screen. “Was she willing?”

“Yes,” I snapped.

Lucien blinked, grinning. “Oh? So, she just casually agreed to get hauled to the mansion?”

Draugr added, “She screamed.”

I turned my head slowly toward him. “You’re dead.”

Draugr shrugged. “I’ve accepted that.”

Volken was laughing so hard he leaned out of frame like he needed to hold onto furniture. “Our brother has found his mate and immediately committed a felony.”

“It’s not a felony,” I said.
