Silence. Then I understood. “Expose him.”
Draugr nodded. “To the demon houses.”
Kosta added, “Especially the old houses that swore loyalty specifically to Malakai.”
Roman began pacing. “We send proof.”
“Not all at once,” I said.
Everyone looked at me, the plan formed as I spoke. “We leak it.”
Lucien smiled wider. “Different sources.”
“Yes.”
“Make it look like they're discovering it themselves.”
Volken nodded. “Suspicion first.”
“Then confirmation,” Draugr said.
Roman stopped. “Then we give them someone to blame.”
“Ceasar,” I said because that part sounded good, very fucking good.
Kosta's expression hardened. “Ceasar helped Xion build the lie.”
“Exactly.”
Lucien laughed. “Perfect.”
Roman looked toward the map spread across his desk. The war suddenly looked different, not smaller, but winnable.
“We've been fighting their strength,” Roman said.
“We should have been fighting their trust,” Draugr replied.
I moved closer to the map, red markers, black markers. All identifying the warehouses, routes, safe houses, demon territory, Vampire territory. “We isolate Xion,” I said.
Volken pointed at the northern routes. “Destroy his remaining supply lines.”
Lucien added, “Turn the old houses.”
“Feed false locations to Ceasar,” Draugr said.
Roman looked at all of us. “And when they move?”
I stared at the map. “We choose where.”
The same principle we'd used since my injury. Make them come to us, but now we had something better.
Roman's mouth hardened. “We build a kill zone.”
Lucien's grin disappeared, serious now. “One location.”
“Remote,” Volken confirms.
“Controllable,” Draugr added.
