Are all wolf shifters so… well endowed?

“Liliana,” Godric says with an inhuman growl to his voice. It’s as though he can’t complete the shift and his wolf is fighting him. That is evident as his teeth sharpen, flatten, then sharpen again. His eyes remain an intense gold as if his wolf is surging from within, threatening to overtake him at any moment.

My body reacts to the usage of my name with such authority. I take one step forward toward the most incredible specimen of a man I’ve ever seen.

“My wolf wants to eat you,” he says.

A swallow works down my throat. “Does he?”

Despite the inappropriate thoughts racing through my mind, I don’t think the Alpha means that in a good way.

Godric flinches and growls as he squeezes his eyes shut, then opens them again as he gazes at me with that inhuman stare.

His eyes flash with very real magic surging from inside his body.

His wolf is fighting him. There’s no doubt about that now.

I can see the hunger. Fear skitters up my spine.

The hooded man’s voice rolls through my mind again.

“Submit.”

I am sick and tired of submitting. I’ve feigned docility and endured silence all for the sake of my family.

Now, I’ve been cast aside as a useless, broken thing.

Just like my sister.

My sister… who is still here. Somewhere.

It’s that last thought that has me descending to one knee, despite my reservations or what’s left of my honor.

Then the other knee crashes to the ground.

Godric’s growl rumbles in his chest as I instinctually bend my head toward my shoulder. I slowly brush my hair to the side, showing my neck.

It seems like the kind of gesture that would appeal to a wolf.

I stiffen as Godric’s shadow falls over me, then I squeeze my eyes shut as he crouches.

I’m so dead.

I should never take advice from a half-blind asshole in the woods.

A hot asshole, maybe, but—

My thoughts vanish from my brain as Godric’s hot breath puffs on my skin.

The pain I’m expecting doesn’t come. A bite doesn’t come next.

Instead, he buries his nose in my hair and breathes in, as if savoring the scent he had been tracking.

I swallow down the sound my body wants to make as a result.

“I will not let my wolf devour you,” Godric says. His words are even more growly than before.

It sounds like a promise.
