I tucked two knives into my strappy outfit, then snapped my gaze to the camera. Raising the knife in my hand, I beckoned them to come and get me.

Seconds later, a guard burst into the room and met my blade with his heart. He hit the ground hard.

Many knives remained embedded in the wall behind me. More than enough. Reaching back, I pulled one free.

The coppery scent of blood filled the room as another guard stormed in, meeting the same fate as the first.

After that, they seemed to learn their lesson, and they stopped running in without thought.

Unfortunate, that.

Oh, well. I’d just have to take the battle to them.

I whirled around and met Neeve’s terror-stricken gaze. “I suggest staying out of my way or being useful.”

Then I vanished into my void form.

Neeve gasped, then screamed. Because they all did. Voiding was a great party trick. Unfortunately, we weren’t at a party, and I didn’t have time for this.

My wig melted away in the process for the change, along with my contacts. For some reason, neither survived the transition into my ghost forms, but my clothes did. It never made any fucking sense to me.

White-gray hair and purple-tinted eyes replaced Jessica’s carefully constructed disguise.

Neeve screamed again, wailing like a banshee as she grabbed her head. I wasn’t even sure why; she couldn’t see me. No one could.

“That is the opposite of useful, Red,” I growled, gathering the remaining knives.

I’d chosen a strappy little number specifically so I could tuck knives into it for battle. Unfortunately, playing this role meant leaving my protective gear behind. I’d have to rely on my abilities to keep me alive.

Fingers crossed, because it was time for battle.

I strolled through the wall, materialized only my hand, and slit the throats of the four guards outside the room before they even knew what was happening. Once they were down, I turned completely invisible again.

My heels clicked to the beat as I made my way into the main hall. The sound was a harbinger of their deaths.

Click. Clack. Click. Clack.

My favorite song on the playlist came on: Girls Just Want to Have Fun.

The perfect song to kill men to.

Materializing only my hand again, I began my rampage.

Feeling playful and dramatic, I threw five knives in succession, embedding them in the hearts of the first five Order men seated in the front row.

Unfortunately, my showboating had consequences.

Bullets came flying in my direction, passing straight through me. One, however, managed to graze my exposed hand, forcing me to void it again. But because I was a sick monster, I wanted them to see what was coming for them. So, after a minute, I shifted into my translucent ghost form.

Walking with one red-bottomed heel in front of the other, I prowled around the men as bullets continued to pass through me.

“It’s time to have some fun, my loves,” I said, cackling like a witch. Oh, I was enjoying myself far too much.

My heels clicked methodically with the music as I turned my hand into human flesh and threw three more knives.

Apparently, the men didn’t take kindly to that. They started running and screaming like toddlers scared on Halloween.

But oh, no. The doors were barred. Damn that. It was almost like someone didn’t want them getting out or something.
