"They will. The brothers are good men. They'll see what I see, that you're worth it. That this is worth it." He pauses. "But even if they didn't, it wouldn't change anything. I'd still choose you."
My eyes sting. "You barely know me."
"I know enough. I know you work yourself to exhaustion for your daughter. I know you're kind even when you're tired. I know you deserve better than what you've been settling for. That's enough for me to want to know everything else."
I kiss him, and when I pull back, he's smiling.
"I should get you home," he says. "Luna will be up in a few hours."
"Yeah. You're right."
We untangle ourselves, and I search for my bra in the darkness. Find it under the front seat and stuff it in my purse. My underwear is soaked through, and I grimace as I pull it back on along with my jeans.
"Sexy," Razor says, watching me struggle back into my clothes in the cramped backseat.
"Shut up."
He grins and pulls his own jeans back up, buckles his belt. We climb into the front seats—me in passenger, him in driver. He starts the engine and pulls out of the parking lot.
The drive to my house is quiet but comfortable. His hand finds mine on the console, and I thread our fingers together. The streets are empty at this hour, just us and the occasional streetlight.
"When can I see you again?" he asks as we turn onto my street.
"I work at the diner tomorrow. Today, I mean. Four PM to midnight."
"I'll pick you up after. Take you home."
"You don't have to—"
"I want to."
I smile. "Okay. Yes. I'd like that."
He pulls up in front of my house. The blue paint looks gray in the darkness, the white porch shadowed. A single light is on in the living room. Mom is either awake or left it on for me.
Razor puts the car in park but doesn't kill the engine. He turns to face me, reaches out to cup my cheek.
"Get some sleep," he says.
"You too."
"I'll try." He kisses me once. "Text me when you wake up. Let me know you're okay."
"I will."
I climb out of the car, my legs slightly unsteady, and walk up the porch steps. Turn back to see him still sitting there, watching to make sure I get inside safely. I wave, unlock the door, and step inside.
The door closes behind me, and I lean against it, my heart racing.
What the hell just happened?
I just had sex in a car with a biker I met yesterday. Had the best orgasm of my entire life. Agreed to keep seeing him. Started something I'm not sure I'm ready for but desperately don't want to stop.
My phone buzzes in my pocket. I pull it out.
*Razor: Thank you for tonight. Sleep well, beautiful.*
I smile and type back.
