The guy Gwen had hired to do some research into Charlie and his debts had uncovered something interesting. Charlie had had a vasectomy several years ago. He’d gone out-of-state to do it, no doubt to avoid her or anyone else finding out.
The betrayal of what he’d done had hurt. But it also meant that Kelly-Anne’s baby wasn’t Charlie’s. And she had no claim on the house.
Gwen had sent out several letters to people Charlie owed money to, informing them that Aimee’s signature had been forged. Most had backed off immediately. Some had given some pushback, but Gwen wasn’t backing down and she was certain they soon would.
Frank, the man who had shot Webb and threatened Ammo had been murdered in jail. He’d picked a fight with the wrong person and they’d killed him.
It gave her one less thing to worry about.
And Webb was doing a lot better now. Thanks to Honey. Or that’s what she liked to tell everyone.
Kirsten had told her that Danny’s Bar had shut down. Apparently, he was broke. There had been a lot of rumors around town that he was watering down the beer and that cockroaches had been found in his kitchen.
It had ruined him.
Mr. Hendricks had to put the grocery shop up for sale. He’d been investigated for unsafe work practices and was in a lot of trouble. According to Kirsten, Jeremy’s parents were looking at buying it. At a heavily discounted price.
Even Ed, the funeral director, hadn’t escaped unscathed. A number of unsavory rumors had popped up around Greasy Knob about him and now everyone was booking the place in Lager for their loved ones funerals. According to Kirsten, Ed was looking at leaving town.
The sheriff had not only left his job, but there was an ongoing investigation into his conduct while he was sheriff. It wasn’t looking good for him.
Sally-Anne had been evicted after she’d stopped paying rent and was now living in a caravan. She’d been unable to find a job after getting fired, apparently.
The insurance money for the house had come through which was a huge relief and had meant she could settle all the debts she had. Gwen had gotten several debts wiped or settled where Charlie had forged her signature.
“You’re thinking too much,” he told her. “Look at me.”
She stared up at him.
“That’s better,” he told her. He cupped her face with one hand as he drove himself in and out of her. God, it felt so good.
She could feel her arousal growing again. She was close to coming when he drew out of her.
He untied the ropes around her ankles, rubbing them gently, although she hadn’t lost any feeling. He hadn’t tied them that tight.
And then he flipped her over onto her stomach with her hands still tied above her head. They could move easily because the cuffs were secured by a long rope to the headboard.
He drew her up onto her knees with her chest leaning against the mattress. Then he slowly pushed his way inside her.
It was almost too much, and yet it wasn’t enough. She was so close, but she just couldn’t reach the edge. And then he used his finger on her clit to drive her higher and higher until she exploded around his hard cock. She clenched down on him, shuddering, her breath coming in harsh pants as her pulse raced.
Ammo pushed himself deep one last time, letting out his own groan as he came. Then she collapsed on the bed with him on top of her. He quickly rolled to the side.
Reaching up, he undid the cuffs around her hands, lowering her arms gently and rubbing her wrists to her shoulders, before taking her into his arms and holding her tight.
Ammo rubbed his hand up and down her back with long strokes as she fought to keep her breathing under control.
She loved this part, where he held her so tight, where he kept her safe from the rest of the world, where he made her feel wanted, needed and loved.
Twenty minutes later, they were lying together in the bed when he reached over to grab something from the bedside table.
“I have a present for you.”
“What is it?” she asked, sitting up.
He handed her a wrapped package. It was kind of heavy and large and she set it down on the bed as she started to unwrap it.
“What’s this for?”
