He laughs loudly, attracting people’s attention. “I know you, man.” It’s the only explanation he gives, bumping his shoulder into mine.
“So tell me, how was it?”
“I’m not talking to you about my sex life.”
“Ah, come on, man, I’ll tell you about mine.” I would hope not, since I know he has fucked my brother and I definitely don’t want the details of that. I’ll be traumatized for life.
“You have fucked my brother, remember? I definitely don’t want to know about that.”
He grins at me sheepishly, cocking his head. “That’s not true.”
I raise my eyebrows at him, catching him in his lie.
“I didn’t fuck him. He fucked me.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” I mock. “That makes it so much better.”
“Well yeah, I don’t have any interest in fucking him. I like it when—”
“That’s enough, God man, I’ll never get that image out of my head.”
Killian smirks. “Don’t worry, that’s all in the past now.”
Well, from the look on my brother’s face, it’s definitely not in the past. Connor is making heart eyes as we speak. Gazing at Killian with so much adoration and regret that’s even hurting me. I hope they get through whatever is going on. They are two of the best men I know. And they have my full support on whatever they decide to do.
“Hi, Alexis,” Killian greets my girlfriend, who is holding a cup of water in her hand, sucking on her lollipop, she looks between me and Killian.
“Everything okay?” she asks. I must be showing the disgust I’m feeling right now.
“My brother has fucked my best friend,” I say keeping my voice down. I don’t want other people to hear it.
“Yeah, I gathered that.” She sits beside me, laying her hand on my arm. “I thought you knew that.”
“I did. But he wants to traumatize me and tell me about their sex life.” I shudder in disgust.
She scrunches her nose. “Oh yeah, I wouldn’t want to hear that either if it was my brother and best friend.”
Killian has a devilish look in his eyes, leaning closer, whispering, “Sometimes, he grab—”
I cover his mouth with my hand. “No, don’t you dare.” He licks my hand. Causing me to withdrew my hand, he smirks. “And the—”
I grab Alexis’s hand. “Come on, baby, before I’m traumatized for life.” She grins following my quick pace while Killian laughs loudly behind us.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Carson
I’m standing in the club for the second time this month with my brother and best friend.
And for the second time, it wasn’t intentional. I came here originally with Connor, but Killian showed up half an hour later, not with us, but with a friend of his own. They’re standing at the bar talking, while Connor and I are on the other side of the room, drinking our lukewarm beers that have tasted better before. At least it can’t get any worse than the last time we were here, unless they start making out, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. I’m watching Killian with curiosity, wondering why he didn’t tell me he was coming. He knew I would be there, but he never said he was planning on coming too. His friend laughs at something he says. Connor clenches his fists hard enough to turn white. He’s watching them too.
I don’t know if he’s angry that Killian is with someone else, or more disappointed that he isn’t here with us. He clenches his jaw, his body taut. I lean closer to him, talking over the loud music that’s thrumming through the room. “He’s married.” Connor tilts his head to the side, his eyebrows furrowed. “Look at his finger.” The ring on Killian’s friend’s finger blinks in the dark room. I have seen him before. He’s an old classmate of ours. I never really talked to him at school, but I know Killian used to meet up with him.
I only know that his first name is Matt, and well, that he is obviously married.
The tension in Connor’s muscles relaxes.
My phone vibrates in my back pocket. I swallow down my beer, wincing at the bitter aftertaste. God, beer is disgusting. I place my now empty cup on the wooden side table, then grab my phone. The screen lights up with Alexis’s name.
