Singer and songwriter Aran Graves, who killed his boyfriend, rockstar Ben Jenkins, in a drug-fueled rage, has been released from prison after five years for good behavior and is returning to the United States.

In a press statement, his bandmates emphasized that they stand behind their frontman.

“Aran is a wonderful person and a talented musician who has served his time after one fateful night,” said drummer Liam Barbossa.

A celebration for loyal fans—but a dark day for family members like Julia Dover, Jenkins’ sister.

“Aran belongs behind bars for the rest of his life. He killed my brother in the most brutal way imaginable. There is no excuse for that.”

Court documents show that the nearly three-year relationship between Graves and Jenkins was marked by extreme highs and lows. Neither musician was a choirboy, and both repeatedly made headlines for various scandals—especially Ben Jenkins, who had been arrested multiple times for drunk driving. Aran Graves also appeared in court in Massachusetts on disorderly conduct charges but maintained, even after completing his community service, that he had only been standing up for his boyfriend, Ben Jenkins.

Graves, who attempted suicide shortly after Jenkins’ death became public, has had a turbulent few years. As a teenager, he had already released self-produced songs online. At 18, he founded the band Grave Sinner together with his childhood friend Liam Barbossa. The song “Midnight Dinner” went viral and made the punk rockers world-famous almost overnight.

Graves, now 27, is returning to New York. What the future holds for Grave Sinner remains unclear.

“We were caught off guard by Aran’s early release,” Liam Barbossa said when asked. “We’ll have to see how things develop with the band. First and foremost, I’m just happy to see my old buddy again.”

The guy should be grateful it happened in Europe. Over here he would’ve gotten the lethal injection.

@stor_ystore

Even if the music is good, he doesn’t deserve to be free.

@aran_forever

Not if it was manslaughter, you idiot. @vaxx_ine87
