“Don’t get me wrong,” Dominic said diplomatically. “I love Bowie, but whenever we’re in the same room, I have no choice but to be Team Jagger.”

I leaned closer to his ear. “Have I ever told you how sexy your tattoo is?”

Dominic grinned. “No.”

“It’s absolutely biteable.”

An electric energy built up between us, making it impossible for me to focus on anything else. Dominic was like a meteorite that had entered my orbit, now circling in my atmosphere. I would have done anything to keep it that way.

When the song ended, the DJ started the next track, eliciting loud cheers from the crowd around us. This time, it was “Dancing in the Street” by Mick Jagger and David Bowie.

I couldn’t believe it and laughed. Dominic shook his head in disbelief. While Eliah whisked him away, I found myself unexpectedly in Sibylle’s arms. I swiveled my neck to look for Dominic, but he had already disappeared into the crowd.

The mood exploded with contagious energy, and there was no holding back on the dance floor. I had fun, dancing with all sorts of people. While I was dancing with Henry, an actor who looked like a young Brad Pitt, someone slipped their arms around my waist from behind and spun me away. Before I knew it, I was back in front of Dominic. There was a seriousness in his eyes, which he tried unsuccessfully to hide behind a smile.

“Well, well,” I teased casually. “Someone’s jealous?”

Dominic flinched and pulled away from me. Embarrassed, he rubbed his mouth with the back of his hand, cleared his throat, and nodded upward. “Two to one, Bowie.”

I grinned and tilted my head slightly. “I’ve probably had every woman here in my arms, but you come over when Henry’s in front of me.” As I danced closer to Dominic, I placed a hand on his chest. “You know I’m into women too, right?”

“Henry’s into you. Or are you blind?”

I shrugged and released my hand from his body. The second I did, a sadness flickered inside Dominic, as if he longed for more contact.

The unmistakable sounds of the next song filled the room, and the crowd cheered again. This time it was “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie.

“This is unbelievable,” Dominic said, shaking his head once again in disbelief.

“Two to two, Mick!” I shouted excitedly, propping my hands on his shoulders and jumping. “Bowie’s catching up!”

As his hands rested on my hips, a cold shiver ran down my spine, followed by a tingling sensation that took my breath away. Our gazes locked, and I plunged into the deep blue of his eyes. It was like diving into the darkest ocean, where the stars reflected, drawing me into another universe for a moment. Only when we were bumped from the side did I snap back to reality.

Dominic’s hand grazed my side, and this time, the heat surged through my veins. That’s when I realized that I hadn’t taken my hand off him either. By now, it wasn’t on his shoulder anymore but had slipped down to his chest. Impressed by his physique, I moved my hand to his side.

I inhaled his masculine scent, mixed with aftershave, relishing the closeness between him. We swayed to the rhythm of the song, lost in the powerful beats. It was like we were in a trance, floating in our own world, detached from the wedding celebration and the people dancing around us.

Before the song ended, the next one began to take center stage. My mouth dropped open when I heard the intro to David Bowie’s “The Stars (Are Out Tonight).”

“Shit, this can’t be happening,” Dominic groaned.

“Three to two for Bowie!” I yelled, kissing him on the cheek. Then I leaned in and whispered in his ear, “Do you realize how hot you’ve been making me this whole time?” I pressed my body against his and couldn’t resist breathing in the scent under his ear.

Dominic shivered and froze. His breath hitched, his expression transformed.

“I know that darkness in your eyes,” I said in a low voice as I moved away from him.

Embarrassed, he averted his gaze and licked his lips. He was so irresistible that I couldn’t hold back any longer. I grabbed his upper arm and led him off the dance floor like a cop arresting a suspect.

“Hey! What’s going on?” he asked, surprised, stumbling beside me.

I led him past the gift table into the farthest, dimmest corner of the cloakroom.

“Oh God, Kilian, we’re here …”

I didn’t want to hear any more. I pressed my lips against his and began exploring with my tongue. Dominic welcomed me without resistance, gripping my vest and pulling me even closer. I responded to his invitation, feeling his heavy breath on my chest. When I shifted my leg against his groin, Dominic gasped.

“Shit, Kil, what are you doing to me?”
