ME
it’s bc they’re all invisible
I look up, my throat tight. Sabrina’s brows pinch, and then she glances at the screen. I think guilt flashes across her face, but there’s no way. I exit out of the thread, bracing myself for the inevitable flaccid pep talk like my mom always gives. I swear if she spews some bullshit like everything happens for a reason after what her mom did, I’ll—
“Want to talk about it?” she murmurs. For a second it looks like that sympathy on her face is real, but it can’t be.
“With you? I’d rather drink gasoline and juggle flaming torches,” I scoff, before I remember that’s exactly what I want—the truth.
Whatever sympathy was on her face before, snuffs out. Her mouth thins into a line. “Fine. I’ll be over by the Antiques and Things booth.”
She struts through the crowd.
I watch her go.
Maybe that look on her face was real, but it doesn’t mean I’m ready to admit how much alcohol I’ve chugged this past year just to fall asleep. I don’t want pity from her. She doesn’t care about me. Or Walker, for that matter. She barely ever spoke to him unless we happened to tag-team the same job.
She’s the enemy. She’s my nemesis. She’s…
I squint at her.
She’s flirting with another guy.
