“If we light this here, whoever is left in the restaurant is going to bolt or put it out. How many are there?” she says, her face filled with concentration.

“Five. The two guys who came in to see the chefs earlier. One of the waiters. One chef. And another guy; I can’t see his face.”

She tabs her nail on the palm of her hand, then hikes up her dress, pulling out a blade from her thigh strap. I have to tense my entire body not to groan in response.

“I have a plan…” she mutters.

“Tell me.”

“You’ve got one Glock with a silencer. You go in there, take as many out as you can, and I'll clean up with this,” she says proudly, holding up her sharp knife to the light, still covered in her last victim's blood.

“If they’re dead, they burn in here. No witnesses left. Gives us time before Nikos works out who really did it. And by that stage, the asshole will be dead anyway.”

I roll my shoulders, doing something, anything, to disguise how impressed and fuckin’ turned on I am by her. She thinks like me. The consequences are thought about, yet still absolute chaos prevails.

“Well? We haven’t got much time to negotiate this particular point,” she presses, tapping the knife on my bicep.

“Fuck it. Let’s do this.”

Before we get to the door, I push her behind me as I open it. They’re sitting ducks at a round table. Easy work.

I aim and shoot. Once. Twice. Right in the head. By the third, I manage to catch him in the cheek as he’s ducking out the way.

The fourth pulls out a gun, but he’s too slow; my bullet is tearing right through his chest.

But the fifth. That prick is making a dash for the door. I stride towards him and pull the trigger, hitting him in the left shoulder blade. Gianna’s heels click on the marble floor behind me.

I saved this one for her. She deserves one kill out of this. She drives the blade right into the side of his throat and pulls it out, the blood falling from his neck as he chokes out his final breath. We stand and watch, surrounded by bodies.

“Nice shot,” she praises, nudging into my side.

I wrap my hand around her shoulder, resting my head on top of hers.

“Feel better now?” I whisper.

“That was just what I needed. Now, let's make this place burn.”

I’ve never fuckin’ experienced whatever the hell tonight has been. Pure thrill. That’s left me half turned on, half pent up. That seems to be the typical experience of standing beside Gianna.

But with her cuddled up beside me, a calmness washes over me that I didn’t know existed.

She seems to have tapped into a whole new side of myself, and I think I’m fucked.

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT

Gianna

“Okay. I think we make a pretty good team,” I say, staring at the flames engulfing the restaurant from the safety of our car parked down the street.

Colten chuckles. “I’ve got Enzo’s guys on monitoring flights. We will know if Nikos and Stefanos try to flee.”

Fuck. In all the excitement, I almost forgot the real reason why I’m here. To kill those bastards. I’m so distracted by all things Colten, I’m actually having fun even while working. Even if we are murdering together, it’s more like couples bonding.

“In good news, we’ve got eyes on the men we identified earlier. I think by sunrise we will have a location on Nikos and Stefanos,” he tells me.

I jab my fist into his bicep. “Good job.” Pulling another drag of my cigarette, I blow it out of the window. “Do you feel bad for what we did?”

“No. It’s the price you pay for this line of business.”
