“See you soon,” I whisper.
He doesn’t look back. Doesn’t give me a kiss. Doesn’t wish me luck. Nothing. Which means I’m still very much in his bad books. I only get the loving version of my father when I behave. When I earn his love.
I sit on the edge of the bed with a huff.
I don’t even notice Dom walking in; I’m staring at one single diamond on my dress.
“Do you think Colten will be pissed about the black dress choice?” he asks, taking a seat beside me.
I shrug. “I don’t give a shit what he thinks, Dom.”
“Fair. But it’s a bit of a red flag.”
I turn to face him. “Red flag? Have you been watching those shitty reality programs again? The fuck do you mean by a red flag? What color should I be?”
He laughs, leaning back on his hand.
“I think Colten will need a white flag.”
“Whatever. I’m marrying him regardless; I doubt he cares what the hell I wear. The dress is the least of his concerns.”
“I wonder what he’s going to wear. At least you’re marrying a guy that’s hot as fuck.”
I slap his arm. “Don’t fantasize over my husband.”
He tilts his head. “Or what? Maybe your husband wants me. Hmm? I caught his friend, Romeo, eye fucking him over the laptop on more than one occasion during that meeting we had a while back.”
To be fair, I also caught that. But Colten was too busy watching me. So, I’m not worried.
“If anything, Colten looks like he will give you the ride of your life, sis.”
I close my eyes, trying to compose myself, before I punch him in the jaw. Today is not the day. I’ve got a lot lined up. I have to marry a cowboy and convince him to take my virginity. The moment I’ve been waiting for for years. I get to experience dick. It’s a shame that it’s attached to a man who doesn’t seem to like me much. But I’ll get over that.
“Stop talking, Dom. Go downstairs and let me get ready in peace.”
He blinks at me, and then nods as he stands. He knows when to push and when to stop.
And then I’m back in silence. Just me and my wedding dress.
As part of the deal, I have to get Colten to fuck me. I have to. Hurdle one is how to get a man who most likely despises me to consummate a marriage he doesn’t even want to be in.
I have no idea, but I’ve got about five hours to figure it out
CHAPTER TEN
Colten
“Why the fuck are you stacking coke into a trailer when you’ve got a wedding to get ready for?” Hunter says from behind me.
I wipe the sweat from my head and drop the hay bale I’m using to disguise the drugs with a thud, but I don’t turn around.
“I’ve got three hours, Hunter. And this shit has to get done; Mikhail needs this load,” I grunt.
“That’s bullshit, Colt. Remember who you’re talkin’ to.”
I turn, my fists clenched. “Yeah. I know who I’m talking to, Hunt. My big brother. The one who signed the deal that married me off.”
His face doesn’t change. He looks at me, just like Dad used to. Hunter is the boss; he oversees the ranch and the mafia. Me and Ace do the legwork that keeps it running. Have since the day Dad died. Poured everything into this damn ranch and protecting my family.
