“Bummer,” Dom replied. He dragged his palms higher over Gavin’s ribs.
Gavin stared at him for half a second, then kissed him hard enough to bend him back over the island. Dom went willingly, one of Gavin’s thighs pressed between his, and Dom’s body reacted before his pride could stop it. He rocked against the pressure, a short, helpless movement that made Gavin groan into his mouth. The sound went right through him, so Dom gripped Gavin’s shoulders and did it again.
“Dom.” His name came out wrecked.
He wanted to hear Gavin sound like that again. He kissed the corner of his jaw, then the rough skin beneath it until Gavin tipped his head, giving him room. Dom found the strong pulse in his throat and sucked lightly until Gavin’s fingers dug into his hips.
“Careful,” Gavin warned.
Dom smiled against his skin. “You don’t want a mark?”
“I have a client meeting tomorrow.” Gavin inhaled as Dom pressed a gentle kiss beneath his ear before pulling back. “I don’t care if you mark me. Just not where it can’t be covered.”
Dom laughed, and Gavin caught the sound with his mouth. He slid one hand into Gavin’s hair and pulled lightly. Gavin’s grip tightened at his waist, then he lifted Dom onto the island as if he weighed nothing.
Dom’s breath hitched. “Jesus.”
“Better angle,” Gavin murmured.
Gavin stepped between his knees and kissed him again, still deep but slower, with something softer threaded through it. Dom hooked one leg over Gavin’s hip, drawing him in until the hard line of Gavin’s cock pressed against his own.
They both froze. The contact was too good and not nearly enough, and Dom’s fingers tightened at the back of Gavin’s neck. Gavin’s forehead dropped to his, their breath mixing between them.
“Tell me to slow down,” Gavin said.
Dom shook his head.
“Use words.”
“Don’t slow down.”
Gavin exhaled shakily. “That isn’t what you’re supposed to say.”
“Yes, it is.” Dom pulled him back in.
Gavin kissed him with a low, hungry sound and his hands slipped beneath Dom’s shirt again. Dom shuddered at the contact. He wanted Gavin’s hands everywhere. He wanted his shirt gone and Gavin’s mouth following the same path his fingers were taking. He wanted to learn every way he could make Gavin lose control. Gavin’s thumbs traced the edge of his ribs, then one hand moved around and skimmed over Dom’s stomach, heading lower.
Lucia let out a sharp cry.
They broke apart so quickly that Dom nearly slid off the island. Gavin caught him with both hands and settled him back on the counter. Dom leaned sideways and looked toward the carrier. Lucia made another complaining sound, and he waited for her eyes to open, but they stayed shut, and she settled back into sleep.
Dom let out the breath he had been holding. “She’s fine.”
Gavin rested his forehead against Dom’s shoulder. “That’s probably a sign we should stop.”
Dom didn’t disagree. The interruption had let reality back into the room, and he took in the scene: their abandoned plates in the sink, his daughter sleeping a few yards away while he sat on his kitchen island with his shirt shoved halfway up his stomach. He shifted slightly, and Gavin took a step back, his gaze moving over Dom’s face.
Dom could see the question on his face. “I’m fine. But I think you’re probably right. If we keep going, I’m not sure I’ll want to stop.”
Gavin’s eyes darkened. “That makes two of us.”
“And I don’t want to rush something because we happened to have forty-five minutes left in her nap and lost our minds in the kitchen.”
For a moment, Gavin stared at him, then he smiled slowly. “You estimated how much time we have?”
Dom shoved at his shoulder. “That’s what you took from that?”
“No.” Gavin caught his hand and kissed his palm. The soft press of his mouth felt more intimate than anything they had just done. “I think you’re right.”
