Dom grimaced. “You don’t have to make it sound pathetic.”

“You asked how he was thirty seconds after I mentioned his name,” Evan said patiently.

“I asked how a friend was doing.” CJ made a sound that might have been a laugh, and Dom shot him a look. “You stay out of this. You’ve said enough already.”

Evan’s gaze moved between them. “What did I miss?”

“Nothing,” Dom said immediately.

“Dom kissed Gavin.”

Dom stared at CJ. “You absolute asshole.”

“What?” CJ asked, completely unrepentant. “You were going to tell him eventually.”

“You don’t know that.”

Evan’s eyebrows shot up. “We’ll come back to that in a minute,” he said. “You kissed Gavin?”

Dom abandoned the spoon on the holder beside the stove. “I hate Sundays.”

“When?”

“Two weeks ago,” Dom answered to the counter.

“At dinner?” Evan clarified. Dom glared at him, and Evan’s eyes went wider. “After we left?”

“No, while you were sitting at the table.” Dom rolled his eyes. “Yes, after you left.”

CJ moved to hoist himself up to sit on the island, and Evan shifted to lean against him. “Apparently that’s why they’ve both been weird,” CJ explained.

“I haven’t been weird.” Both men just looked at him, and Dom sighed. “Fine.”

“Why didn’t you tell us?” Evan asked.

“Because there was nothing to tell,” Dom said.

“What are you talking about? You kissed him!”

“Yeah,” Dom muttered glumly. “And then I told him it couldn’t happen again.”

Evan’s expression finally changed. The surprise faded first. Then the amusement. “Oh,” he said quietly.

“Yeah. Oh.”

“What happened?”

Dom looked at CJ. “You want to take this one too?”

CJ shook his head and spread his hands wide in deference. “All yours.”

“Generous.”

CJ smirked as Dom failed to keep the sarcasm out of his voice. He reached for the spoon again even though the sauce didn’t need his attention. At least it gave him something to do with his hands.

“We kissed. Lucia woke up. I panicked. I apologized. Gavin left.”

Evan frowned. “You apologized for kissing him?”
