There’s a baby in my house.

They didn’t respond for several seconds.

PLEASE HURRY! IT WON’T STOP CRYING

CJ called immediately, and Dom answered so fast he almost dropped the phone. Lucia continued to wail against his shoulder.

“Dom?” CJ sounded alarmed. “What the hell is happening?”

“There’s a baby.” Dom’s voice was high-pitched and shaky.

“I can hear that,” CJ said wryly.

“I don’t know what to do!”

“Hey, it’s gonna be okay.” CJ’s voice dropped into a soothing tone. “Just breathe, bud.”

“I am breathing!”

“Barely.”

Evan’s voice could be heard in the background. “What’s wrong?”

“There’s actually a baby at Rizzo’s house,” CJ answered.

There was a long silence before Evan spoke again. “I’m sorry, what?”

“You’re on speaker,” CJ said. “Tell us what happened.”

“Talia showed up, handed me a baby, and left.” Dom was impressed he was able to sum it up that succinctly.

He heard Evan swear, followed by a muffled thud and the sound of hurried movement on the other end of the line.

“What do you mean she handed you a baby?” Evan demanded, his voice much closer now.
