CJ frowned. “Are you feeling okay? Is Lucky okay?”
Dom laughed. “We’re both fine.”
Evan leaned against the divider between their stalls. “You realize you’ve never turned us down before.”
“That’s not true,” Dom protested.
“It is.”
“It definitely is,” CJ agreed. “Usually we get halfway through the invite, and you’re already asking whose house.”
Dom shrugged and tried to sound casual. “I was just planning to have a quiet night at home with Lucky.” Neither of them spoke, and Dom looked between them. “What?”
Evan narrowed his eyes. “That’s it?”
“What do you mean, ‘that’s it?’”
“We’ve been on the road for two weeks,” CJ said. “I figured you’d be desperate for adult conversation.”
“And you thought I’d come to you for that?” Dom asked, laughing when CJ threw a towel at his head. “I’ve had plenty of adult conversation.”
“With baseball players,” Evan pointed out.
“You’re baseball players.”
“You know what I mean.” Evan threw his hands up.
Dom chuckled as he zipped his duffel bag closed. “I just want a quiet night.”
Evan studied him for a moment before nodding. “Fair enough.”
“But everything’s okay?” CJ asked again.
“Yeah.” Dom slung the bag over his shoulder. “Everything’s good.”
CJ held up both hands. “Alright. We won’t pressure you.”
“I appreciate that.”
“I feel like you’re hiding something though.” CJ narrowed his eyes when Dom didn’t respond.
“I’ve got to get Lucky,” Dom said with a laugh, ducking his head to avoid Evan’s stare. That man was too perceptive sometimes. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”
His phone buzzed before he was halfway across the locker room, and he paused to look at the message.
Gavin
Seven still okay? And should I bring anything?
A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth before he could stop it, and his fingers flew over the keyboard.
Dom
Seven is still good. Just bring yourself.
Gavin
Looking forward to it.
