He touched my shoulder, and I spun around, almost tripping over my feet.

“What’s wrong?” he asked. There was something in his eyes that I couldn't quite place.

“Nothing,” I dodged.

“You’re a terrible liar, Tillie. Tell me what it is so I can fix it.”

“You can’t fix this,” I grumbled under my breath, not thinking he heard me.

I was proven wrong when he took my bag from my hand and turned me around before pushing me, pinning me in place.

“We’re gonna try that again. What’s wrong?” he demanded as he pressed his body against me, caging me in.

“N-nothing,” I spluttered.

“I’m not gonna ask again.”

There was a warning in his voice, but I wasn’t afraid. This man would never hurt me, not like that anyway. He might shatter my heart into a million pieces, leaving me a broken shell of the woman I once was, but he’d never physically hurt me.

“Fine. You want to know? You really want to know?” I dared.

Cody nodded, not breaking eye contact.

“You … you … oh, my god. I can’t even. You know what? It doesn’t even matter, let’s just go. Like you said, I don’t want to be late,” I told him, throwing his words back at him.

His hand wrapped around my wrist and brought it up over my head, holding firm.

My breathing hitched.

My chest rose.

My nipples pebbled under my shirt, and all I could pray was that the padding in my bra was strong enough to hide the effect he was having on my body.

“Say it,” Cody demanded.

I’d had glimpses of the man standing before me over the last few days. He was bossy in the bedroom, and I had to admit, I fucking loved it.

But I was stubborn. I wasn’t some naïve, little twenty-something. I was a grown-ass woman. I’d loved and lost, and I’d been around the block once or twice. Cody didn’t scare me.

“Say what?”

“Tell me the reason you’re annoyed is because you’re frustrated.”

“I’m not frustrated,” I snarked back.

He smirked, and the dimple in his cheek almost buckled my knees. If it hadn’t been his hard body pressing against me, I’d be a puddle on the floor. “You’re horny.”

He said it so matter-of-factly, I didn’t have it in me to argue.

“I’m fine,” I lied.

I knew I was going to have to change my panties before I went to work and probably drain the batteries on my favorite vibrator.

“You’re fine?”

“Yep,” I confirmed, popping the ‘p’.

“So, if I slide my hand into your panties right now, I’m not going to find you wet and your pretty little clit throbbing?”
