I leaned down but stopped when my lips were a whisper from hers, waiting for her to close the distance.

I didn’t mean to lean in.

I’d spent the last several days reminding myself of the many reasons I needed not to give in to this temptation again.

The problem was, the second he got close, all those carefully crafted reasons just… flew right out of my head.

I leaned.

Then his lips were on mine.

There was no more thinking then.

Just feeling.

Just sensation.

Just the heat tracing a warm path down my spine. And the desire settling deep—strong, insistent.

Silas’s hands both slid to frame my face, his touch at once steadying, even as it unraveled me. The tenderness of it. The possessiveness just underneath.

My own hands rose, wrapping around the back of his neck, pulling him closer, holding him tighter.

The kiss shifted at the crush of our bodies—turned rougher, harder, needier.

That warmth down my spine sparked, lit.

The flames spread.

My teeth nipped Silas’s lip, drawing a groan from him. The vibrations of it moved through me, making me arch into his chest as my fingers dug into his neck.

Silas’s self-control was just as shredded as my own. His hand slid down from my jaw, over my breast. His lips stifled the sound of my moan as his hand tightened, as his thumb circled the hardening point of my nipple.

“Silas,” I whimpered.

I wasn’t even sure what I was asking for.

Silas was.

His hand glided downward, sliding over my ribs, my hip, then across my stomach.

There was the barest of hesitations, a chance for me to change my mind. But there was no changing it. I couldn’t think of anything I wanted more than this.

My fingers tightened on him.

Then his hand was slipping under the waistband of my pants and panties.

Tension melted into something molten as his fingers teased up the core of me.
