Silas’s body pressed against my knees until my legs parted helplessly for him. The drag of his slacks and belt up my inner thighs had heat building in the narrowing space between us.
One of his hands splayed across my hip.
The other brushed my hair off my neck.
“Maggie.”
His voice was raw with his own desire, but there was something underneath that, something that sounded something akin to a warning.
Some sort of sound escaped me that he took for encouragement to go on.
“I need you to understand something,” he said. His fingers traced over the pulse point in my neck, making my belly flip.
“Okay.”
So long as he kept touching me, I could handle anything he had to say.
He leaned closer, his forehead nearly brushing mine.
“This is not a story that gets a happily ever—”
“Oh, shut up,” I grumbled. I grabbed the sides of his face, pulling him closer. Our gazes locked until finally—finally—his lips pressed to mine.
It wasn’t urgent or reckless, just… certain in a way that made my chest tighten.
His hand stayed steady at my waist, grounding me more than pulling, as his lips slanted over mine, slow and sure, the sensations pulling me under.
My arms went around his neck, holding on as the kiss slid from soft to searing. A soft sigh escaped me, and he used the moment to slip inside, his tongue tracing over mine, coaxing another little moan.
The heat rose under my skin, a spreading warmth that started low and climbed, strong and unavoidable. My fingers curled, pulling him closer, until his chest was crushed to my breasts, the sensation making a soft sigh escape me.
Silas’s hand slid to the back of my neck, steadying me as he pressed forward, leaning me back until I was arching over the desk, his body over mine.
My legs bracketed around his hips, pulling him closer.
The hard press of him against the center of me had a shudder coursing through me as a low, ragged moan tore its way from between my lips.
The sound had Silas breaking the kiss, pulling back just enough to watch me with heavy-lidded, molten eyes. The look had a pulse of want moving through me, making my legs tighten around him, pulling him against me again.
Silas’s eyes squeezed shut at my whimper. Almost as if he was looking for patience, for the ability to hold himself back.
I couldn’t think of anything I wanted less.
He leaned back down, but angled outward, his lips pressing into my neck, making a million little explosions of pleasure move through me.
Everything else fell away.
It was just me, him, and the quiet collapse of whatever walls we’d been trying to keep between us.
It wasn’t about his show or my book.
It was just the gentle tightening of his hand on my hip, the slide of his tongue, the scrape of his teeth.
My breath escaped in little tangled huffs, and my heartbeat fluttered faster with each passing moment.
Silas’s tongue traced the pulse point in my throat, circling it. Then, dragging a gasp from me, I felt the scrape of his fang.
I expected panic.
