“Oh, but how are you feeling?”
“Incredible, as though I could run down this mountain.” He smiles mischievously, then swoops me over to our side and onto my back. My skirt is pushed all the way to my waist, legs spread, and this huge monster with wings is fucking me.
“Let me properly fuck my soulmate,” he murmurs, then slams into me.
I arch my back, purring at the depths he reaches, the stretch that aches so beautifully.
Shadows fall over us as Lian and Kazak stand on either side of Corvin. He pulls back onto his heels and lets them see everything.
I should be blushing, but forget that. Lian already has his cock out, and he palms it fast, Kazak following suit. Corvin grins like the devil, thrusting into me while I scream from how quickly I’m about to come.
I don’t even know when this turned into a sex party, but here we are. Our enemies are dead, blood soaks the soil beneath me, and I’m about to come apart beneath one monster, who pounds into me with his massive cock. All under the watchful eyes of two others, who would die before losing me. And all three are my mates.
Chapter
Thirty-One
DAWN
We stumble into the king’s office, complete wrecks. Covered in blood and bruises, clothes torn, hair all over the place. I glance at myself in the reflective display cabinet filled with swords, and I’m not wrong, especially with a purple bruise right under my left eye.
Normally, I doubt the king would accept us in such a state, seeing as we’re filthy and smelly, but none of it matters when we have the truth to settle with His Majesty.
The room is empty, with the grand doors open to the balcony and a crisp breeze fluttering inside. It feels glorious on my face.
Corvin takes the lead and steps outside, the rest of us close behind.
The balcony expands outward and can easily host a small party. But my attention catches on the city beyond the parapet edging. It’s spectacular no matter how many times I’ve seen it, and from up here, it looks down on an oversized courtyard with seats around the perimeter.
On our left, the king sits at a round outdoor table, drinking what I can only assume is coffee from a cup.
His gaze follows our approach as he sets his cup down. “I heard you’d returned to the city, and I will confess, I didn’t expect you back so soon. Most people don’t survive the mountains, let alone return the same day. Especially since the walk down the mountain alone takes over two days. You four must be extremely resourceful.” His gaze drags over us, his eyes full of questions.
Corvin approaches him and reaches for the seat across from the king. “May I join you?”
“Of course,” the king sweeps his hand forward. “I assume you have something of importance to share with me, considering you rushed to see me, well aware that your actions at my garden party have not been forgiven.”
Corvin pulls out the seat and slumps into it, clearly unbothered by the king. “We’re here as a courtesy to you and to explain how we ended up in this predicament in the first place.”
“I’m aware of how it happened,” the king answers sharply, straightening in his seat.
The rest of us stand a few steps behind Corvin, and every now and then, King Slate lifts his gaze to me. Behind us, I notice that guards join us on the balcony.
“So speak, then, as I’m in a receptive mood this morning,” the king states, his jaw clenching. “Especially seeing that before dawn, my guards swept the garden and came upon ten cages with dead beasts. The kind that have no business being in my city. So you can enlighten me about them, as one of you mentioned being attacked by them in the maze.”
“I had informed you, Your Majesty,” Lian says. “And the proof was in front of you with the scars we wore after our time in your maze. We were set up, as someone wanted us dead.”
He huffs and leans forward, staring directly at Lian as though he might demand his death. “I agree. I did allow the attack on my people to anger me, but if there’s betrayal under my roof, stop playing your games and tell me who’s responsible.”
“Your Gamemaster,” Kazak answers. “He admitted it to us.”
His face blanches. “Those are severe accusations.” He glances at the guards behind us. “Bring the Gamemaster to me immediately.”
“They won’t find him,” Corvin says. “He’s dead.”
The king stills, the tendons in his neck flexing.
“King Slate,” Corvin starts, leaning forward in his seat. “We’re here to bring you the truth.”
