Leah folds her arms. “Think he knows?”

“If Diego’s office sent anything through corporate channels, probably.”

I stand and smooth the front of my skirt. Yesterday, the prospect of being summoned into Randall’s office made my stomach twist because I knew exactly how little leverage I had.

Today, the nerves are still there, but they are different.

He told me to pull this off.

I did.

Whatever he thinks of how I managed it, he cannot change that.

I cross the floor and knock once on his open door.

Randall looks up from his computer. “Come in. Close it.”

I step inside and shut the door behind me before taking the chair across from his desk. He has a printout in front of him, and from the Conti Enterprises header at the top, I know immediately what it is.

“You heard,” I say.

His eyes lift to mine. “Mr. Conti intends to purchase the penthouse.”

“Yes.”

“That was quick.”

“He responded very strongly to the property.”

Randall leans back, studying me. “Clearly.”

There is enough edge beneath the word that I feel my shoulders tighten, but I refuse to let it show.

“He wants to proceed with due diligence,” I continue. “I’ve already contacted the seller’s broker for the full file and inspection access.”

“Send everything to me.”

“I'll be uploading everything as is standard.”

His expression hardens. “I want to be copied on every communication.”

“Is there a company policy I'm unaware of?”

“Blair.”

I hold his gaze.

Yesterday, I might have rushed to reassure him.

Today, I did what Randall failed to do.

“I’m handling the client,” I say evenly. “You’ll be copied on communications that need management visibility, but there’s no reason to reroute through you.”

His jaw clenches.

For a few seconds, neither of us speaks.

Then Randall picks up the printout and taps one corner against the desk. “You understand that a client like Diego Conti requires careful management.”
