“Sorry.” she flushes pink. “You’re just earlier than I expected.”

She bites her bottom lip as I stride towards her, pulling her into my arms and slamming my mouth on hers. “Whenever I come home, don’t hesitate. Come, kiss me.” I grunt, letting her move back a bit.

She nods. “Um, yeah, okay. Uh, do you need a shower or want a beer or anything? I still have another twenty minutes on the stew, and then I can pop dessert into the oven. I made pie.”

“How about I come into the kitchen with you, clean up the mess you’ve probably already made while you finish cooking?” Her eyes widen at that.

“Really? You want to clean my dishes? Are you real?” She whispers and I laugh. Fuck, she’s cute.

I shrug my coat off and hang it on her rack and move with her towards the kitchen. “Damn right, plus I know you hate leaving dishes overnight, so may as well get started on them, so it’s not too big of a job afterwards. Especially since afterwards, you won’t have time to clean up, since you’ll be naked in bed the rest of the night.”

Her body trembles as I give her a slight shove towards the stove, and I have to bite down on the inside of my cheek to keep myself in check.

I finish cleaning up as she’s putting the pie in the oven, and we move to the table to eat. “This weekend I got a truck coming to my place, getting it packed up and I’ll be moving in,” I tell her, not really giving her much of a choice.

Her breath hitches. “What? But this is way too soon. We literally just started. We had like one date. Oh my god, we’re moving way too fast,” she rambles out in a panic.

Swallowing a bite, I shake my head. “Nah. Babe, this has been a long time coming. Why waste time? Hell, for all we know, you’re already knocked up with my baby. Why delay the inevitable?”

Her eyes narrow at me, but I don’t back down. “I, but, this. gah.”

I smirk at her frustration. “What’s your problem? We’re in love. We’re gonna get married. We’re gonna have kids. Why bother waiting? We’ve known each other our wholes lives. It’s not too fast.”

“Yeah but, what if us living together so soon ruins everything? What if I snore? What if you snore? What if I don’t like the way you hang a towel or something?”

“Babe, cut that shit out. You’re worrying over nothing.” I get she’s worried about moving at warp speed, but this is happening. I’m not giving her even a slightest of a chance of questioning this relationship. She worries over everything and nothing, constantly. Me making this decision for her might be overstepping, but sometimes, when people have anxiety like she does, she needs someone there for her to make decisions. And I know this isn’t the wrong one.

“But…” she starts.

“Stop it. I love you, Delaney. Always have. It’s always been you for me. I know, it’s no secret, it’s always been me for you. We’re done fooling around with this shit. We’re an us. We’re moving in together. You have three months to plan a wedding, that’s it. I don’t want to wait any longer to finally have my rings on your finger, and yours on mine.”

Her eyes are still bugged way the fuck out, and I’m worried I might end up having to take her to the hospital to get checked out if she doesn’t calm down.

“So we’re really doing this?”

“Think we’ve established that.” I lick my lips. “Eat up, gorgeous. You’re going to need the calories to burn unless you’re too sore.” I tilt my head and assess her.

Her cheeks are flushed, and she squirms slightly in her seat. “Um,” she breathes the word out.

“Eat.” I gather some stew on to her spoon and aim it at her mouth. “Come here.” She gets up and I pull her into my lap to resume feeding her. “I like this.” I grin and she wiggles against my hardening cock, moaning around the next bite.

Part of me feels guilty for not telling her that piece of shit is out on the loose. The less she knows, the better, though. If things go my way, I’ll end his life without her ever knowing.

She deserves a beautiful life full of peace. I plan to give it to her and then some.

Chapter Twenty-three

Pike shoves the last bite of apple pie and ice cream between his lips, and I can’t take my eyes off the cords of muscles that move along his throat as he swallows. Everything about him turns me on. I can’t explain it. Since we slept together, I want him even more than I did before. My attraction to him has only grown stronger. Like magnets, we’re drawn together whenever we are in the same room.

I never knew love would feel like this. Like I’m flying. He’s like a drug to me. His kisses are a sugar high. I know I said we are moving fast, but I really do love the idea of having this with him every night, knowing that I’m going to wake up with him next to me.

“You ready to go up to bed, beautiful?”

“Mhmm.” Butterflies swirl in my belly at the way he gazes into my eyes with nothing but love and maybe a little lust. I feel it too, though. This intense need to have nothing separating us. His body pressed to mine. The steady beat of his heart pulsing for me.

“You know, it means a lot to me you were patient and true. That you waited to give yourself to me. I promise I’m going to cherish and protect you always. You’re my whole heart, Delaney.”

I press my lips to his, tasting vanilla and apple as his tongue slips into my mouth. Pike kisses me soft and sweet yet dominates all my senses. My nipples pebble against the lining of my bra. I’m addicted to his kisses. I don’t think there’s anything better than his mouth on mine other than having him inside me.
