She points between him and Autumn.

"You just found out your sister has a pack." Then, she points toward the shed. "That idiot isn't going anywhere. We are either a united front, or I go into that shed alone, and handle Peter myself.”

Hunter looks like he wants to argue, Gidge gives him a look.

“First, let’s introduce ourselves. Hi, I’m Gidge. These are my alphas. Gears is the club’s Prez, Arrow the VP, and Acid the enforcer.”

Autumn follows suit. “These are my alphas. Clint, who my asshole brother just punched, this is Tripp, and that’s Briggs.”

Gears nods once. “Nice meetin’ ya. Thanks for havin’ us. Wish it was under better circumstances.”

Gidge looks at Autumn. "Now." She plants her hands on her hips. "Tell your brother everything."

Autumn folds her arms across her chest, and looks directly at Hunter.

“You wanna know why I’m staying?”

Hunter’s jaw tightens. “Autumn–”

“No! You came all the way out here and caused a scene. You’re gonna listen.”

Autumn takes a breath.

“I needed you. My blockers never made it here. I don’t know where they got lost. If they fell out of my bag or got left somewhere, but they were gone.” She laughs once, but there’s no humor in it. “I called you. Again and again. I bet I called and texted thirty or more times, begging for help. I needed my brother.”

Hunter blows out a breath. “I know.”

“No.” Autumn shakes her head. “I don't think you do. I went into heat, and I was scared. I was in fucking Montana with strangers.”

Tripp growls beside her. Autumn giggles and smiles.

“Sorry, but you were strangers. Sexy strangers, but still my first heat with people I only knew a short time.”

Hunter speaks, and he sounds shocked and a little broken.

“You went into heat?”

Autumn nods. “And they helped me through it. When it was over, we knew.”

Hunter frowns. “Knew what?”

Autumn looks at Briggs, Tripp, then me, and finally back to her brother.

“That we’re scent matches.”

Gidge interrupts the moment. “Well, that explains the smell. You smell like a dessert bar exploded, Scrappy.”

Autumn laughs a genuine belly laugh.

Hunter rubs both hands down his face.

“You’re taking her side, Gidge?”

“Watch it,” Acid barks.

Gidge just stares at him, and I wonder if she might be the baddest person on the ranch right now.

“She’s an omega.” Gidge points toward the house. “Living with her scent matches. She looks happy, healthy, and loved.”
