At the house, the airport, on the plane?

“Fuck.”

I grab my phone and pull up Hunter’s contact, hitting text before I can think too hard.

Me- Hunter! I need you to answer me. I think my pills fell out of my bag before we got to their house and I’m out.

Me- My scent is already becoming stronger.

Me- I’m worried about going into heat. Can you overnight them to me?

Me- Or at the very least get a new script called into a pharmacy here?

Me- Hunter!!!!

I stare at the screen, waiting for the little dots to pop up.

Nothing.

“Come on…” I whisper, tapping my foot against the floor.

I send another text. Then another.

Still nothing.

I try calling.

Straight to voicemail.

My stomach twists harder.

I’m hoping the constant beeping of his phone alerts him that this is fucking serious, that he needs to check it. That bastard promised he’d always be reachable when he forced me here, and now it’s been days of radio silence since he left.

For all I know, he died on the plane.

That thought hits hard enough to make my chest squeeze.

“Don’t be dramatic,” I mutter, dragging a hand down my face.

I pull up Gidge’s contact next and type fast.

Me- Hey, Gidge. I hope everything is good there. Can you tell that fuckhead brother of mine to call or text me? I’ve been blowing up his phone and got no response. I’m starting to get worried. Everything is fine here.

I stare at that last line for a second. It’s not exactly the truth, but she doesn’t need to know that. She’s got enough going on. I lock my phone and toss it onto the bed, pacing the room now, arms wrapped around myself.

My scent.

Is it stronger? Or am I just freaking myself out?

I stop near the door, thinking.

For the first time since I got here, the idea of being stuck in a house full of alphas doesn’t just irritate me.

It makes my pulse kick harder for a whole different reason.
