She eyed my beer. Made her own conclusions.

Ripping my gaze from her, I turned back to Ty. “Thought this was a boys’ night?”

He chuckled and motioned to Wes and Skye, who had their arms wrapped around each other. “Those two are locked at the hip.”

I didn’t argue.

Morgan approached him, sinking into his side like he was her gravity. He landed a peck on her temple, shooting me a knowing look.

The mate bond had turned these guys soft.

A pang of jealousy stabbed my gut, knowing the bond was something I would never allow myself to feel. I hoped I never found the one. Because that was another shit storm I did not need to deal with.

Parking my ass on the nearby couch, I sank into the well-worn cushions. Lifting my knee, I rested my arm on it, taking another drink.

Colt sat on the nearby armchair, leaning forward to keep the conversation between us. “We’ll figure something out,” he murmured, sliding me a sidelong glance.

The botanical.

I adjusted the cap on my head, and my gaze drifted back to Red, who was chatting to Skye. “Not sure how long I have.”

Until I turn into a blood sucking vamp.

I had enough problems being a blood mage, let alone growing fangs. Crossing a blood mage with a vampire would be a fucking disaster; the bloodlust would become a huge problem.

Would I be the same person? Think the same thoughts? Still have friends?

I stole a glance in her direction again, watching as she produced a deck of cards from her black leather handbag, showing Skye.

“Did you speak to Callan?” Colt asked.

“Not yet.”

“I think you should. I could come with you,” he offered.

I shook my head. “No need. If the guy wanted to kill me, he would have done it already.”

“I just…” His voice trailed off as Skye approached with Red hot on her heels.

“Guys,” Skye addressed us both, darting her attention between us. “You never told me Scar did Tarot readings.”

News to me.

A bemused grin kicked up the corner of Colt’s mouth. “So I’ve heard,” he replied. Adjusting in his seat, he pushed his palms down the front of his sweats. “Show us how this works, Scar.” He motioned for them to join us.

Fuck.

Red raised a brow in my direction. “Do you mind?” Behind her words was the question: Are we good or not?

No, we’re not good. We’re anything but good.

“By all means,” I said, motioning her to do her thing. I took a drag from my beer, feeling the buzz from the liquor slide through my veins, watching as she dropped to her knees.

I did not need that vision to come to life.

Skye perched on the armrest of Colt’s chair, watching as Red shuffled the cards. She seemed to avoid eye contact, but I couldn’t be sure.

Her eyes closed as she spoke, shuffling the cards simultaneously. “Spirit, what advice does Colt need in love?” Her voice was like velvet and sin as she threw the question to the universe. A light pink colored her cheeks, probably from the red wine, but it gave her an otherworldly glow that I couldn’t pry my eyes from. Like she was made for this, and the universe was responding accordingly.
