“Right now.”
“To take on the world, bite by bite. Together. And without any luggage getting in the way.”
Harper kisses her. A deep, passionate kiss, full of certainty, that tastes of champagne and triumph. Victoria responds instantly, pressing her against her body, leaving no room for doubt. Six months of frantic work, arguments, passionate reconciliations in the office, and sleepless nights are summed up in that embrace.
“I hope you two aren’t up to anything indecent!” Julian’s voice shouts from the terrace door.
They reluctantly pull apart. Harper clenches her teeth, stifling a laugh.
“I’m going to kill him.”
Victoria leans on her shoulder, laughing out loud.
“He caught us. Again.”
Julian swings the door wide open, dramatically placing his hands on his hips.
“I’ve got the press looking for the directors, and here you two are, hiding out and getting it on!”
“Julian, get lost before I demote you to an intern,” Victoria threatens with a playful tone.
“Never! I’m indispensable. Besides, Solange is demanding a toast from the whole team. I need my bosses in here. Now!”
Harper points her finger at the door.
“Five seconds, Julian.”
“Okay, but don’t take too long, or I’ll drink all the champagne myself.”
Julian disappears into the main room. Harper looks at Victoria, who’s still holding her by the waist.
“Our life is a real circus.”
“Yeah. But it’s our circus.”
“Do you regret anything?”
Victoria looks at her with such pure love that Harper’s heart skips a beat. She leans in and kisses her on the lips.
“Not Paris, not the divorce, not coming back. Not a single one of the decisions that have brought me to this terrace with you.”
Harper gives her her best smile and holds out her hand. Victoria takes it without hesitation, clasping her fingers tightly. No contract in the world can match what they’ve built, nor can any professional success surpass the feeling of being loved and free.
Together, they step into the party, ready to take on the world. And this time, it will be forever.
