‘Aye, ladki, get up now. You are always late.’

‘I can’t open my eyes, yaar, they’re stuck.’

‘Your eyes get stuck every day, doesn’t a dream ever get stuck in there?’

‘I won’t be able to finish my dream. Just let me sleep for five more minutes.’

‘Wake up and stop having filthy dreams, you, got it?’

‘Arré, let me, na. It’s such a beautiful dream.’

‘What is it, tell me?’

‘Arré, let me finish it, no.’

‘Whatever you’ve seen, tell me that.’

‘Yaar, let me sleep for two minutes, go make tea.’

‘Tea’s done. Wake up now.’

‘You won’t let me sleep, huh? I have missed my dream. C’mon, give me that tea.’

‘You missed the dream or was it broken?’

‘Dreams are mostly missed, not broken. They walk too fast. So fast that you can’t remember why you dreamt in the first place. Anyway, forget all this. You make really nice tea. My morning becomes a little bit better, thanks to your tea.’

‘Thanks.’

‘Don’t ruin things by saying thanks, I have told you this multiple times before. Sometimes staying silent suffices.’

‘All right.’

‘Have you ever dreamt of our wedding?’

‘Many times; that is what scares me.’

‘What’s there to be scared about?’

‘My dreams never come true, yaar. Don’t you dream?’

‘I do, but I don’t remember them.’

‘Do you know why I don’t want to get married?’

‘Why?’

‘Do you see this fan up there?’

‘Yeah, I do. What about that?’

‘After marriage, if you lie down on the bed all you can see is the dirt on that fan, not the air.’

‘You’re crazy, Sudha. You can’t see air anyway.’

‘Yes, you can.’

‘How?’
