“Good,” she said, handing me some smaller plates. “Now go put those on the table, because I brought my famous apple pie I know you’re dying to get a slice of.”

When I walked back into the dining room, Eliana’s eyes found mine instantly. She tracked me across the room, her expression softening. As I sat back down next to her, she leaned over, her lips brushing my ear.

“Everything okay?” she murmured.

“Better than okay, babe,” I whispered, reaching for her hand, holding it tight. “Mom just reminded me I’m doing okay.”

She grinned, her fingers interlocking with mine. “Glad someone else told you, because I can only tell you so many times before you roll your eyes at me.”

Chapter 29

Eliana

SOMETIMES I HAD TO TAKE A STEP BACK and let everything sink in. I was constantly go-go-go, I rarely gave myself time to even breathe. I was so focused on making sure I was putting out my best work, that I was making Wyatt’s image look good.

I was really good at giving myself too much to do with not enough time. I guess I lived for the chaos. I thrived in moments where it felt like the world was on fire and everything around me was crumbling in, but I had shit to get done. Things are a little different when your work involves enhancing your boyfriend’s image.

Since he returned from his injury, he’s been on a tear. A seven-game hitting streak, hitting a home run in six of his last seven, and even made the ESPN highlights twice in the last two weeks for his defensive efforts.

There was this new sense of ambition that swept over him. I loved seeing it in him. I loved being able to be the one to capture these moments for him – ones he would cherish for the remainder of his life.

Wyatt always wanted to know more. He wanted to learn more about what I was doing. The process behind it, the way things came together after just being a simple idea written in my notes app.

There were nights where I was up late editing things to get my calendar squared away, and he would be right next to me, watching me do my thing. I didn’t mind it, I actually welcomed the company when I was deep in the editing trenches.

I had my cup of coffee and some fruit in a bowl while I started on some work for this week.

After his family left last night, I tried to clean up the living room and kitchen but he insisted I go and rest.

He walked into my bedroom just wrapped in a towel, the water dripping from his hair, and his beautiful body on full fucking display.

I had it way too good with him. He looked delicious and he didn’t even have to try.

“I’ve told you this before, but I’m going to tell you again,” I say as I look up from my laptop at him. “You’re really handsome.”

His gaze finds mine and he smirks. “Are you drooling? Do you need a rag to wipe your mouth?”

My jaw falls and I narrow my eyes at him. “I give you a compliment and you instantly go into inflating your ego.” I sit up, moving my laptop out of the way. “Just take the compliment and say thanks!”

Wyatt laughs, moving to stand on the side of the bed in front of me. “Thanks, babe, you’re so nice,” he leans down and kisses me. “You’re not too bad looking yourself. Tits are to die for.”

I swat his arm, blushing. “I don’t know what you’re looking at. There’s nothing there.”

He looks at me like I’m an idiot before he climbs on top of me, his hands finding my breasts and cupping them. “Baby, they’re definitely there, and I fucking love them.” He mutters as he peppers a couple of kisses on my chest. The way his hands slowly ran down my body, the sweet intoxicating smell of his body was overwhelming, but in the best way.

The way he looks at me, the way he looks at my body makes my heart slam against my chest. The simplest look could have a thousand feelings of desire behind them.

“You’re so beautiful,” he murmurs, one of his hands moving down my jaw. “I don’t know how I got so lucky…”

I ran my fingers through his wet hair, keeping my eyes on him. “You make me feel beautiful,” I whisper, pulling him down to meet his lips in a kiss.

I felt the towel drop from his waist as he lowered himself closer to my body. His hands continued to move down my body, slow and deliberate. Fingers traced the dip of my waist, the curve of my hip, before he pushed my shirt up slightly. The way he touched me – possessive but reverent – had heat pooling low in my stomach.

“El,” he breathed against my lips. “You’re distracting me.”

I couldn’t help but laugh against his lips as I sat up. “Me? Distracting you? You’re the one that walked in here in just a towel. That spelled trouble from the moment you stepped foot in here.”

He narrowed his eyes at me, standing up and wrapped the towel back around his waist. “I never did such a thing.”
