If I forgave him, would baseball win again? Was that something I would have to worry about? If I gave him my heart again, would he break it for a second time?
I shake my head a little before I pull him to me, pressing my lips to his. One of his hands moves to cradle the back of my head, pulling me to him as he remains on his knees on the floor.
For the first time in what felt like forever, I remember what it felt like to be appreciated and cared for all in the same breath.
He pulls back from the kiss, lips just barely touching mine. Neither one of us speaks for a moment. We stare at each other, taking everything in.
Being here, kissing him, wrapping my arms around him, it was overwhelming in the best way.
“I’ve been waiting a long fucking time to do that,” he whispers before kissing me again, pulling me onto his lap as he sits back on the floor, his arms securing around my waist.
A soft, unexpected moan leaves my mouth as I roll my hips against his. It had been a while since I had been kissed like this – Nothing affected my body the way Wyatt did when he kissed me. Everything felt like electric shocks jolting throughout my body.
“Don’t do that,” he murmurs against my lips.
“Hmm?” I hum, repeating the action. “Don’t do what?”
“That,” he says as he pulls away. “Because once you start, I don’t know if I’m going to be able to get myself to stop.”
I smirk, running my fingers through his hair. “Sounds like a threat, tough guy.”
He shakes his head. “It’s a promise, boss.”
Chapter 16
Wyatt
“DID YOU TWO KISS AND MAKE UP YET?” Liam asks while he looks in my fridge.
“We weren’t even fighting,” I gave him a look. “We’re fine.”
“So you didn’t kiss? No fucking?” He turns to face me. “Lame.”
Entertaining anything Liam asked would open more doors for him to be a pest.
Pass.
I shrug. “Believe it or not, I can actually look at a woman without wanting to get her on her knees.”
He throws a weird look back at me. “And I’m guessing you’re implying that toward me? Because, you forgot to mention that I strike up a good conversation with the girl before I take her back to my place.” He chuckles. “But one thing I won’t do is pine over a girl.”
I mean, I was on my fucking knees in front of her, for fuck’s sake. If that doesn’t show I’m completely gone for this girl, I don’t know what will.
The only girl I ever thought about was Eliana. It might seem stupid of me, I should’ve moved on. I should’ve tried to put the past in the past. Any time a girl would talk to me, I would just think about how Eliana would respond to any question I asked.
It was always Eliana. She was always on my mind.
“At least you’re honest with yourself.” I told him.
Liam laughed, sitting down at the island. “Is she coming to this party tonight?”
“First off, she has a name. Her name is Eliana,” I correct him. “And second, yes. Some other people from the media team are coming too because they’re friends with guys on the team.”
“Okay, sorry, Mister Protective.” He held his hands up. “You like this when the other guys talk to her? Or just me because I’m your best friend?”
I gave him a look. “Eliana’s allowed to talk to who she wants,” I let out a laugh. “She’s my social media manager, not my girlfriend.”
“Yet.”
