“Perfect.”
“You just looked at my hand.”
“I like watches.”
He glanced at his wrist. “I’m not wearing one.”
Shit.
I looked him dead in the face. “I know, and that’s interesting.”
He laughed. “Should I be worried?”
“Probably.”
“Good to know.”
He sat across from me smiling. The restaurant was nice and quiet but very packed. Most people would prefer something smaller with low lighting for a first date, but I guess he didn’t.
Nash opened the menu. “I picked this place because you said you hate loud restaurants.”
I looked up. “I said that?”
“At speed dating.”
“You remember that?”
“Yes ma’am, I did.”
I smiled.
There was something attractive about a man remembering things. Caleb had been good at that too. I shoved the thought away quickly.
Nash looked at me. “You did it.”
“What?”
“That thing.”
My stomach tightened. “What thing?”
“You left.”
I frowned. “I’m sitting right here.”
“Yes, but physically.”
“I was thinking.”
He closed the menu. “You looked somewhere else.”
I folded my arms. “Where?”
“I don’t know.”
“Exactly.”
He smiled. “Are you always this defensive?”
